Just got home from the second day of Warwick Schiller's Attuned Horsemanship clinic. Bear got the call for this one and boy am I glad he did! With only about two and a half months of him being a priority in preparation for this clinic I had low expectations of what we would accomplish. Bear has been previously known to buck under saddle mostly at the canter and I have ridden him very minimally while I worked on other horses and spent a lot of time fixing his feet. Well not only did he work beautifully on the ground yesterday but today we rode and he was super relaxed and responsive at the walk and the trot so we even did a little cantering! Beth Harrison I can’t thank you enough for the opportunity to do this clinic (best early birthday present ever) and for supporting this journey I’ve been on even before you understood why I was doing it😂 Denise Brandley thank you for letting me borrow your trailer and saving me many extra miles of hauling! Also big thank you to 100x equine for sponsoring the clinic and the goodie bag, it was the cherry on top of a perfect weekend.

This stunning 2020 Mare is ready for her person! Elle is 15.1hh, has a really solid start on her, W/T/C, moves off legs, haunch and forehand turns. She is learning to neck rein, is very soft in a 3 piece snaffle and has a solid understanding of collection. While I would consider Elle safe for beginners she still has some more training needed in order to be the show partner she is capable of being so I would recommend an intermediate rider or an advanced beginner working with a trainer. I would love to see her go to an OHSET home, I feel she could be really versatile!

Elle has been kept barefoot her entire life and stands well for the farrier, does well in a stall and outside, has gotten along with every horse I’ve turned her out with and is overall a very easy keeper.

She has been genetically tested and is PSSM n/p she is kept on a low sugar diet because of this but is non symptomatic

Fiona rocked her first trip to “town” at a gaming show with 100 entries. She was unsure of herself at times and wanted to stay close to her new buddies but stood quietly at the trailer and in line. Walking right out when it was her turn and doing patterns she’s never seen before😂 this was maybe her 10th ride since I’ve had her and previous to that she sat for a couple years after being started. She didn’t care about the loud speaker, the tractor or the kids running around playing. I love the minds POA’s have and I know she will make someone an awesome family horse with time. Who wants to trail ride? My barns arena is flooded for the time being so the 24th and 25th I will be taking some clients to Elijah Bristol to ride and have extra time. Some horse experience is necessary but I have enough safe horses to bring two people out at a time, minimum of an hour ride but longer rides can also be accommodated. Remember when your parents used to tell you to wait 30 minutes after eating before going for a swim? Unlike us, horses can actually benefit from eating forage before they exercise, as it may help reduce the risk of gastric ulcers.

While a variety of things can contribute to the development of stomach ulcers (medications, diet, stress, etc.), one train of thought is that these areas of irritation result as a consequence of the acid of the stomach splashing against unprotected parts of the stomach lining. When a horse eats forage, the hay can help absorb some of that acid and thus reduce the risk of ulcer formation.

It is important to note that a forage meal (one comprised of hay or grass) provides the most benefit, while eating large volumes of concentrate feeds (such as oats, corn, or other cereal grains) can actually increase the amount of acid within the stomach.

As always, please be sure to consult with your vet regarding further diagnostics and treatments if you have concerns that your horse may have gastric ulcers.
