Sometimes the best pet toys are the simplest ones. A clean cardboard box can become a hiding spot for a curious cat, a place to tuck a favorite toy, or the beginning of a homemade indoor obstacle course for your pet.

Everyone say hello to our newest Rescue Pet of The Week!

The name's Bubba Gump... Yes ma'am (or sir), THAT Bubba Gump!

I may not know much about shrimpin', but I do know a thing or two about bein' your best good friend. Folks say I'm about two years old, around 70 lbs, and a dazzlin' brindle Plott hound mix boy.

I can be a little shy when we first meet, but mama always would've said you don't have to rush the good things. Flash me a warm grin and toss me a burnt end from your barbeque plate, and I'm yours for life. Thing is, I'd really rather be your one and only furry family member - no other dogs, no cats - just you, our family, and me. I've got enough loyalty and boatin' stories to fill all the hearts in the house.

I'd be happiest with teenage-or-older kiddos who understand that sometimes a hound just needs a little peace and quiet; no little bitties for me, please.

You don't need a shrimpin' boat, but I do need a house-setting with a fenced-in yard so I can stretch my gams in the morning dew to my hearts content. I'm a man of my word, and I keep my promises - so I'll promise you this: I'll greet you like you've been gone a hundred years even when you've just gone to grab the mail. I'll happily follow you down every trail you want to explore as the best hiking buddy this side of the Mississippi, and I'll remind you every single day that the simple things — fresh air, good company, and a warm place to rest — are the very best parts of life.

Somewhere out there, my feather's floatin' on the breeze, headed straight to the person who's meant to be my forever. If that's you... well... I reckon I've been running toward you all along.

Everyone say hello to our second Rescue Pet of the Week, Shiso!

Hi, I am Shiso! I'm a beautiful 3-year-old girl with soft gray fur, a big personality, and an even bigger love for my people. I am happiest when I am getting attention from my favorite human, and if you are looking for a loyal little shadow, I just might be your girl!

I absolutely love being petted, cuddled, and doted on. I am always excited to see my person and will happily follow you around the house, weaving around your feet because I want to be wherever you are. Sometimes, if I feel like you are not giving me enough attention, I may give your toes a little nibble or bump to remind you that I am ready for pets! Don't worry, I am just trying to get your attention. I can also be held and picked up, and when I am happy, I'll reward you with lots of loud, happy purrs.

I am a girl who likes to have the spotlight all to myself. I can become territorial around other cats when I am getting attention from my favorite person, so I would do best as your one-and-only kitty where I do not have to share my human or have plenty of humans in the household to share the love. I have so much love to give, and I would really love someone who is home often and wants a close companion who will always be nearby.

I am also a big fan of food! Because I have some digestive needs, I need to stay on my prescription food to help keep my tummy happy and my stools regular. I am litter box trained and do my best to be a good girl about my routine.

When I am not cuddling with my person, you can find me enjoying small toys or happily using my scratching posts. I am a sweet, affectionate, people-loving girl who just wants a home where I can be loved, spoiled, and included in everything.

If you are looking for a devoted companion who will follow you from room to room, purr her heart out, cuddle up close, and make sure you never forget that it's time for pets, I think we might be a perfect match. I cant wait to meet you!

We are partnering with Rescue One to share one of their adoptable pets each week. This week we have Lane, our very first Rescue Pet Of The Week!

"Hi, I'm Lane, a 9-month-old, Pit Bull Terrier/German Shepherd mix (DNA verified) girl, who weighs about 51 pounds. I'm playful and sweet and I love being around people and soaking up everything puppyhood has to offer.

I'm a smart puppy, too! I'm house trained. . . I know how to ask to go outside and how to use a doggy door! I'm comfortable in my crate and my leash skills are pretty good if I do say so myself. I do well with most other dogs after getting to know them. I am not recommended for a household with cats. I enjoy respectful, sturdy kids, and I bring a happy, bouncy energy wherever I go. I'm very much in my teenage puppy era—playful and curious about everything around me.

I've experienced a little more than most puppies—due to an infection in my eye when I was very young, I lost one of my eyes. But, it doesn't slow me down at all! I still run, play, and love life just like any other pup. Bonus: I'll always make you smile because I look like I'm winking at you all the time.

I'm looking for a family who will continue my training, help me continue to learn good habits, and guide me as I grow into the amazing dog I'm meant to be. A house setting with a securely fenced yard would be perfect so I can safely burn off my puppy energy and keep exploring the world.
