Today, we pause to remember and honor Dr. Sandra L. “Sandy” D’Angelo, whose life was defined by faith, compassion, generosity, and a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

Dr. D’Angelo passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at the age of 78. A lifelong educator and scholar, she dedicated much of her life to teaching, mentoring, and encouraging others through the transformative power of education. Her Catholic faith guided the kindness, dignity, and goodwill she extended throughout her life.

Animals were also among the causes that held a special place in Dr. D’Angelo’s heart. Through her estate, she generously gifted $50,000 to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri, helping ensure that animals in our community will continue to receive the care, compassion, and second chances they deserve.

We are deeply honored to be among the many organizations receiving a gift from Dr. D’Angelo’s estate. Her generosity will touch countless lives for years to come.

Her legacy reminds us that kindness does not end with us. It continues through the lives we touch and the causes we choose to support.

Thank you, Dr. D’Angelo, for believing in the importance of helping animals and for leaving behind such a meaningful legacy of compassion and generosity. We are grateful to carry a part of that legacy forward.

It's the last day of ! It's your last chance to adopt a pet at a reduced rate - all cats and dogs ages 6 months and older are included! Cats have a $25 adoption fee and dogs have a $55 adoption fee. Our adoption center is open until 6pm. 🐾

Darby is a beautiful 5 year old kitty searching for a home of her own! She enjoys lounging on cat towers and chasing feather wands. She's got lots of love to give and is ready to be your fur-ever companion! Come visit her and person and see just how sweet she can be. 🐱

Behind every expression is a dog hoping for one thing: a forever family. 🏡🐶 Spike is a 4 year old Terrier mix with a playful personality and the best smile. He loves to have fun, enjoys spending time with people, and is always ready for his next adventure! Spike is good with both dogs and kids, making him a great companion for a family. He would prefer a cat-free home.
