🐸 A Statement From Frog Family Reptile Shop

We normally believe customer concerns are best handled privately. However, a post circulating in a local community group contains claims about Frog Family that do not tell the complete story, and we feel our community deserves clarification.

First, we are genuinely sorry this family lost their snake. We expressed that privately when we learned of his passing, and we continue to feel for the child who experienced that loss.

This animal was represented by Frog Family as a rescue/rehome and an animal that was underweight. Additional food and supplies were provided at no charge to assist with his care.

After his passing, the customer contacted us requesting that we work something out. We responded. Our messages show our staff expressing sympathy, forwarding the concern to management and attempting to find a resolution.

The customer later requested $354, stating that if the requested refund was provided, the complaint would be dropped and the matter would not be taken public or pursued further.

We did not agree to reimburse the additional enclosure materials, substrate, plants, décor and other expenses being requested. Instead, we offered a replacement animal as a resolution.

We also want to correct one particularly concerning statement now being circulated:

Frog Family did not block this customer.

Our business Messenger currently shows “This person is unavailable on Messenger,” while the account itself remains active. We have screenshots documenting our communications and the status of the conversation.

We will not speculate publicly about the cause of this animal’s death. Claims involving a specific disease or cause should be supported by appropriate veterinary testing and documentation before being presented as established fact.

We are also not going to post private conversations simply to embarrass or attack someone. We have retained the complete correspondence and documentation should it become necessary to provide it through the appropriate channels.

We understand that someone can be upset with how a situation was resolved. They are absolutely entitled to share that experience. But disappointment with a resolution does not make it acceptable to state that a business “ghosted” or “blocked” someone when documented communication shows otherwise.

Frog Family Reptile Shop is a small, family-owned business. Our animals and our customers matter tremendously to us. When concerns arise, we do our best to communicate and find a reasonable resolution—and our records show that an effort was made here.

We ask our followers not to contact, harass, or attack this individual. This statement is being made solely to correct information being publicly circulated about our business.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Frog Family. 🐸💚

I bet you won't read this post also....

I need to be honest about where Frog Family is heading.

The way things are going, we are no longer going to be able to continue the educational and community side of Frog Family.

That means animal-handling events, free children’s events, camps, school visits, church programs, nursing homes, special-needs adult facilities, fundraisers, and the hands-on experiences so many families have enjoyed.

We tried to build more than a pet store.

We tried to build a place where kids could learn, where special-needs families felt welcome, and where people could actually experience these animals instead of just seeing them on a screen.

And none of this was built with investors, government funding, or some giant business loan.

It was built by our family.

At different points we worked three jobs while raising five kids and trying to keep Frog Family alive. One of our children is severely autistic and nonverbal, and we fall into that middle ground where we make just enough to not qualify for much help, but nowhere near enough to make everything easy.

Right now, I’m the only one here.

We shortened hours. We closed two days a week. We cut what we could.

But I’m reaching the point where I have to decide whether I keep losing money and sacrificing time with my own children to keep providing experiences for everyone else’s.

And that hurts.

Because years from now, when people say, “There’s nothing for kids to do anymore,” this is how it happens.

Places don’t always disappear because nobody liked them.

Sometimes they disappear because everyone loved having them around, but not enough people supported what it took to keep them alive.

Amazon will always be cheaper.

Big chains will always have more buying power.

But they aren’t coming to your child’s school.

They aren’t bringing animals to nursing homes.

They aren’t doing special-needs programs.

They aren’t creating hands-on educational experiences for this community.

Unless something changes, we are going to start stepping away from all of that.

If you want this kind of education to continue, support it.

Shop with us. Buy feeders and supplies here. Book a program. Book a party. Share our posts. Tell a school, church, nursing home, or another parent.

We’ve given everything we can.

If Springfield wants Frog Family’s educational mission to continue, now is the time to show it.

🐀💚 Employee for the day!

If you’ve been around Frog Family for a while, you’ve probably watched this little guy grow up right along with the shop. Now he’s officially putting in some work helping us check on and love on our newest baby rats. 😂

Around here, all creatures get love. Our rats are handled and cared for regularly, and we work hard to keep them happy, healthy, and some being pet-quality—including giving plenty of love and care to our mommas and dads too.

Of course, our smallest employee takes his quality-control job VERY seriously. 😂

👇 Help us settle this: What should his official job title be?
Baby Rat Manager? Critter Care Assistant? Chief Cuddle Officer? 😂

Drop your best title in the comments! 🐀 #🐀 ‼️ ‼️🙏🙏🙏
