Tomorrow (Tuesday, March 10), a bill will be considered amending the laws regarding forfeiture of seized dogs when cruelty is suspected.

LDC always strives to support our Exhibitors at our shows. These are a few of the ways that we try to accomplish this. In addition to our Exhibitor welcome bags, this year we gave each exhibitor a LDC logo campfire coffee cup and each exhibitor had a chance to win this BOOS cutting board!!

Each exhibitor that has a dog who finishes the first level of their AKC Grand Championship at our shows are also eligible to receive this gorgeous plaque. All dogs that finish a title at our shows also receive one of our New Title Rosettes.

Long-backed, short-legged Dachshunds are beloved around the world, yet they’re also at risk for back problems.

Dr. Stacey Sullivan’s genetic research offers new hope.

Her team discovered that dogs with fewer copies of a specific gene variant (FGF4L2) have a much lower risk of disc disease. This means that with breeding guided by genetic testing, it may be possible to significantly reduce back disease in future generations.

This discovery empowers breeders to make informed choices for a healthier future for Dachshunds and other dogs who share their genetics.
