This weekend, I’m celebrating another year around the sun—and what a journey it’s been! Like anyone, I’ve experienced good days and bad days, joy and heartache, inspiration and challenge. But every single moment has led me to where I am today: Every single piece of that journey built the woman I am today: a woman driven by passion and purpose. One centered on family and dedicated to rescue. ♥️🐾

Yes, my heart belongs to two things: my family and rescue work.

So when people ask what I want for my birthday, the truth is simple. While I can’t change the whole world overnight, I can be the change I want to see right here in our community.

My one true wish is to reach more people with the plight of community cats, open more eyes and hearts, and help as many cats as possible live better lives.

This year, I’m asking for donations to CCATS. Your support allows us to spay and neuter more cats, break the cycle of homeless kittens, help cats in need, and improve the lives of community cats living outdoors.

The difference two weeks can make in the life of a community cat! Daddy G came in as part of a TNR project. A tom cat in a constant state of defense for his place in the territory and hierarchy. He was a mess of injuries and abcessed wounds.

Two weeks in foster care and this boy who was so beat up and worn down has rebounded. His wounds have healed and been replaced with beautiful pink new skin with little hairs growing back. His personality has totally blossomed as he discovered belly rubs are a-mazing! 😻 He has a new name to go with his new life, he is now named Baron. What a handsome hunk he is!!

The weather is changing, fall has arrived and winter in right on its heels. The rescue is in high gear preparing winter shelters and feeding stations. Along with that comes, the need to fill the feral food pantry with extra provisions. The cats require extra calories during the cold wet months to maintain their body heat and energy levels.

Our friends at Track Town Real Estate Group and Keller Williams Realty, LLC understand this and want to help ensure all of our colony kitties get what they need!! They are matching $500 in donations towards meeting that need! When we answer the call for help, it doesn’t always turn out the way we hope it will. But sometimes, helping means giving them the peace they so desperately need.

We took this boy, whom I named McDreamy, to our wonderful friends at East Lane Veterinary Hospital. He had been living on a kind woman’s porch for several months in an East Springfield trailer park.

Sadly, McDreamy had severe skin cancer on his ear that had invaded the structure of his nose and his sinus. There was no treatment that could give him a meaningful quality of life. If we left him to continue, in a matter of weeks to a couple months, he would have been suffering unbearably.

So we gave him the help he needed and deserved—a peaceful crossing over the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈

He received lots of love, gentle pets, and even a churro from all of us. Then, as if he knew he was finally safe, he climbed up onto the chair, curled himself up, and settled in for his final earthly nap.

That is rescue, too.

We may not have been able to save McDreamy’s life, but we saved him from suffering. We made sure his last moments were filled with kindness, comfort, love, and dignity.

And now, sweet McDreamy, you are free.
Your body is whole again. Your pain is gone. You can run through those heavenly fields, restored to the handsome boy you were always meant to be.

Run free, sweet boy. You mattered. You were loved. And we are so grateful we got to be there for you. 🌈🐾
