ands of stray, abandoned, abused, and neglected animals in need every year. We reunite lost pets with their owners, and place many that are homeless in caring, permanent homes. We strive to ensure the welfare and public safety of our community and its animals through education of our residents and enforcement of our ordinances. We appreciate the support of our community and always welcome new volunteers, foster families, and adoptive home. Additionally, if you represent a rescue or transport group, we would love to work with you!

UPDATED PHOTOS!!!

Sol is a beautiful 2-year-old girl who is learning that the world—and the people in it—aren’t so scary after all. She can be very nervous when meeting new people and situations, so she’s looking for a patient and understanding family willing to let her move at her own pace. Every day, Sol finds new ways to be brave. While she may take a little time to warm up, once she trusts you, her sweet personality shines through. All she really wants is to be close to her people—curled up in your lap, by your side, and showering you with plenty of kisses. Right now, Sol has a calm and laid-back demeanor, but as she becomes comfortable in a home environment, her family may discover a more playful and bouncy side waiting to emerge. She also walks wonderfully on a leash, making her a lovely companion for relaxed strolls and adventures together. Sol is a gentle, loving girl with so much potential. With patience, kindness, and a little time, she’ll reward her family with unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and the joy of watching her confidence grow.

UPDATED PHOTOS!!!

Zeus is a 2-year-old sweetheart with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. He’s currently undergoing heartworm treatment and has some mobility challenges, but neither slows down his enthusiasm for life or his affection for people. This laid-back boy walks beautifully on a leash and already knows how to sit when treats are involved. Zeus is happiest when he’s soaking up attention, leaning against his favorite humans for comfort and companionship. He has a calm, easygoing personality, but he also has a goofy side that shines through and keeps everyone smiling. One of Zeus’s favorite activities is belly-crawling through the grass, taking his time to enjoy the outdoors. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t ask for much—just a soft place to rest, some loving pets, and someone to call his own. If you’re looking for a loyal companion, a professional couch potato, and a dog who will love you with his whole heart, Zeus may be your perfect match.

Tornado is a 5-year-old sweetheart with a gentle soul and a big heart. He can already sit for treats (which is great, because treats are his absolute favorite thing in the world!). While Tornado can be a little nervous when meeting new people or experiencing new situations, he blossoms into the sweetest, cuddliest companion once he feels comfortable and trusts you. This handsome boy is still learning that the world isn't so scary. Leashes can make him nervous, but he's working hard on being brave and gaining confidence every day. With patience, encouragement, and plenty of tasty rewards, Tornado continues to make progress. When Tornado knows you, he'll greet you with excitement and is always happy to spend time by your side. He loves being outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, and exploring the world around him. His curious nature means he's interested in everything, and he's always ready to investigate something new. Tornado is a sweet, affectionate boy who just needs a little help building confidence and polishing his manners. In return, you'll get a loyal, loving companion who is sure to steal your heart.

Hello, friends!
Whew! There have been a whole lot of changes over the years here at SAS. We started our journey together on Randall Wobbe with a rough reputation and a lot of loss. We're ending it in a nearly new building in a beautiful location, supported by an incredible shelter team, wonderful rescue partners, amazing foster families, and an army of volunteers that all help to keep the animals of Springdale happy and healthy during their stay at our hotel. I appreciate each and every one of you for each and every like/share/comment/reclaim/adoption. All of those things keep us going! As my last day winds down, I am comforted moving on to the next chapter knowing that all of my kids are in good hands. Stop by in the next few weeks to meet the new director, Laura Morrow, and help show her the love you all have graciously shown me over the past decade plus. I may be flying home to Pittsburgh but a whole chunk of my heart is staying put right here on Don Tyson Parkway.
