OM Grown Community Garden & Nursery The official page for this sustainable community garden using Organic methods located in Spring Hill, Florida

The garden is a living, breathing entity that uses dedicated hearts and helping hands to grow and flourish. The Garden offers raised garden bed membership opportunities. Individual gardeners get a chance to grow some of their own vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers. Gardeners gain a sense of community through weekly educational workshops and events. Children get an opportunity to see where their food comes from, learn how things grow, how to care for plants and gain a sense of achievement in growing their own food.

POP! 🤩

For this weeks Native Plant of the Week we are highlighting the beautiful: Pink Muhly Grass (Muhlenbergia capillaris)! 🌾

You might be noticing these on your walks and drives around Florida as they are blooming now! 💓

Not only are they beautiful, but they also provide shelter for wildlife, seed for birds and habitat for beneficial insects. It’s drought-tolerant once established, loves our Florida sunshine, and requires very little maintenance.

We don’t have any for sale at this time but, hope to have a ton next year!

Have you spotted any Pink Muhly Grass this season yet? 😍

Can anyone guess the name of this Florida Friendly plant? 😻

This plant is one of Melanie's favorites! The white or lavender flower 'whiskers' on this plant attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.🦋

If you guessed the Cat Whisker's Plant (Orthosiphon aristatus or Orthosiphon stamineus), you would be right! 🌿🐱

There’s always something growing at OM! 🌿

Our garden is more than just plants and garden beds. It’s a place to learn, get your hands in the soil, connect with nature, and grow alongside our community.

Every week brings something new to the garden, and our team is always busy planting, tending, harvesting, teaching, and helping our members along the way.

From our garden to yours, happy growing! 💚🦋

This week in our OM Studio Session, we’re excited to shine a light on Kyle from our OM Grown Garden and Nursery team! 🌿

In a world where we often feel pressed for time, Kyle’s inspiring approach reminds us that even short moments can make a meaningful difference. Despite the scorching heat of over 100 degrees, he found a way to carve out 11 precious minutes to reconnect with his body. He said, "I have 11 minutes, and I can use that to give back to myself.”

Putting on an 11-minute song, Kyle embraced what he calls "3 Breathe Yoga," holding each pose for three deep breaths. It’s a simple yet powerful practice that allows us to pause, reflect, and rejuvenate.

We hope Kyle’s journey motivates you to take just 10 minutes today to honor your body and nurture your spirit. Remember, these small acts of self-care can lead to profound transformations. You’ve got this! 💪✨

This week we’re shining a little light on Bee Balm, also known as Horsemint. (Monarda punctata) A beautiful Florida native that brings plenty of life to the garden.

With its unique blooms and fragrant foliage, Horsemint is a favorite among pollinators. 🐝 It attracts a variety of native bees, including bumble bees, sweat bees, and leafcutter bees, as well as honey bees. It’s also known to attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

Beyond being pollinator-friendly, Horsemint is a Florida native, moderately drought tolerant, and fairly easy to grow. It does well in full sun and well-drained soil, making it a great addition to a Florida-friendly garden.

Adding native plants like Horsemint to your landscape is one simple way to create a garden that supports the wildlife around us while bringing a little more beauty and biodiversity to your own backyard. 🌱

Want to add one to your garden? Stop by the OM Grown Native & Florida-Friendly Nursery!
