Two different views. The purple heel shows a nice structure that is expanding and building. The green circle area shows the unfolding that goes along with this. The blue heels you may think a bit tall but it's an optical illusion, these heels are still starting to stand up. The yellow collateral grooves also show a good V with decent depth. The pic on the right I previously posted. I wanted to show a different view of the same hoof. This is not a final hoof it's a work in progress.

This hoof pic shows the first post set up trim. You can see the imbalance in the hairline marked in green, the medial is slightly higher and lateral slightly lower, the blue shows the pressure that resulted in a pinched lateral wall or kinking effect, you can see the rings in the hoof reflect the same imbalance.

This draft hoof looks really good especially when assessing the capsule as a whole but I want you to look at the blue line and the green vertical green lines below. This is the last of the flare growing down. December was his first trim and he had come a loooonnnnngggg way. Give it time.

Something I've learned about horses. Like everyone else I'm a work in progress. I suffer from ego and impatience so learning to give them grace and the option to say wait or no has taken me time to learn. When I'm hot and tired or perhaps in pain I want to revert back to my "let's get it done" mode. Horses are great communicators if you want to pay attention. Most often horses in my rotation achieve more trust because of the patience I try to give them.

Well the npa post got a lot of interest. This hoof will come along nicely. I like to keep things simple. You can overcomplicate and overthink things. This sweet mare is doing better and the prior farrier had health surgery issues and couldn't take care of. Lack of farrier leads quickly to this. Through no fault of the owner who tried her best.
