Ivy and Friends

Ivy and Friends We are a small group located in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, focused on maintaining cat colonies in commercial areas. We are not currently a 501(c)(3).

We all started as volunteers with different rescues and shelters with backgrounds in colony set up and maintenance, TNR (Trap/Neuter/Release), socialization and special needs foster care. We are not a typical “rescue” as we do not take in and adopt out cats. Rather, if there are friendly cats, we rely on and have received support from local rescues and shelters who are set up to find homes for hom

eless cats. Our goal is to educate people how to set up housing and feeding in a safe, clean, controlled way in commercial locations. We also provide information on how to conduct TNR and utilize the resources available to insure that these cats are not adding to the cat population. In many of these settings, the cats are seen as the problem when the fact is they are very likely there because the location has a rodent problem. In exchange for housing and food, these cats will be healthy and will provide a service as rodent patrol while they remain out of sight for their sake and the sake of the business.

Good morning friends. We know you are probably tired of us asking however you are our only hope. It’s Wishlist Wednesday and we are in desperate need of dry food. We have no other resources to help with food. It’s very stressful week after week worrying about where the food is going to come from to feed these colonies. We understand that times are tough for everyone including us.
These cats were let down by humans from the beginning and we don’t want that to ever happen again. The cats are thriving they are happy and healthy and we want it to stay that way. If you’re only able to help with one bag that’s wonderful it all adds up in the end.
Our wishlists will be in the comment section for anyone who feels they can help. We appreciate it more than words can ever describe. Thank you in advance.

Good morning friends. It’s Wishlist Wednesday. Once again our pantry shelves only have 3 bags of dry food on them. Tomorrow it will be empty. Our greatest need is dry food. That is our main source of feeding. We also could use some adult wet food and some fancy feast kitten wet food. Most already know but I’ll say it again for anyone new following our page. We are a small group of 4 ladies who feed 150+ cats at 3 different colonies. They have been spayed and neutered and had their rabies shots. We have provided them with shelters and feeding stations. You can go back through post and see what the sets ups look like. We also provide medical care when needed.
We rely heavily on our community to help us feed them.
If you would like to help the links to Walmart and Amazon will be in the comment section.
Thank you in advance.

This morning when Kim went to feed at our first colony she found a box with a lid propped up against one of the shelters. In the box was 4 kittens and 1 kitten had made its way into the shelter. The one kitten had made its way out of the shelter while she had called me. Now it was behind the shelters. I went down to help her because I know first hand it’s a two person job when dealing with the shelters. We pulled them out one by one as the white kitten kept moving. Eventually it got down between the pallets and I was able to grab it. Kittens are probably 3-4 weeks old. Surprisingly they are able to eat on their own. They are safe and being well cared for at this time. However we will be looking for a rescue to take them which we know will probably be near impossible as it’s kitten season and everyone is packed to the brim.
We are angry, sad and all the emotions that go along when finding dumped kittens. These sweet babies didn’t ask to be brought into this world much less be dumped. Please don’t say well at least they put them where someone would find them. There is no excuse in this world for dumping kittens. Plain and simple. We have no idea about the mom whether she got dumped or not. There were no sign of her if they did. Now we have 5 more mouths to feed and spay and neuters and all the things. We are NOT a nonprofit we don’t have funds for stuff like this. Now we need kitten wet and dry food so if anyone would like to help out with that we would greatly appreciate it. We struggle from week to week to feed our colonies. It’s just so disheartening that people think animals are disposable.
So much to say about this but sometimes it’s better to just stay quiet until we can get our emotions in check.
To the person who dumped these babies we hope you have the day you deserve !

It’s another Wishlist Wednesday. We are sorry to keep asking but the truth is we just aren’t getting enough food to last from week to week. We can’t seem to get our pantry shelves stocked because as soon as the food comes in it goes right back out. It takes a lot to feed 150 weekly. Our greatest need is dry food.
