A year ago Nine Realms placed K9 Logan with Tacoma General Hospital. Logan and his handler Jordan Wood completed six weeks of handler school and since then have been busy finding narcotics and keeping patients safe. I had Jordan write up a bit of their adventures over the past year. Jordan now calls Logan, Peanut, which suits him.
āOne year ago, K9 Peanut began his journey as a working K9, and what an incredible first year it has been.
Peanut has settled into his role exceptionally well and absolutely loves his job. Every day, heās excited to jump in the patrol vehicle and head to work. Watching his enthusiasm and drive has made this first year together incredibly rewarding, and I couldnāt be more proud of everything weāve accomplished as a team.
In his first year, Peanut has been responsible for more than 15 narcotics finds, with his largest seizure totaling over two pounds of ma*****na. Beyond his detection work, Peanut has become a calm, steady presence throughout the hospital. He takes his job of helping keep our staff safe seriously, allowing them to focus on what matters most; providing exceptional patient care.
Peanut has also become a favorite among our staff. Many units look forward to his visits, and he never misses an opportunity to brighten someoneās day with a wagging tail and a friendly greeting.
One of the highlights of the year was helping provide security during the grand opening of the new Mary Bridge Childrenās Hospital. Peanut was proud to be part of such an exciting event, helping create a safe environment while bringing smiles to staff, patients, and members of our community.
Iām incredibly grateful to call this handsome guy my partner. Heās exceeded every expectation during his first year, and I canāt wait to see what weāre able to accomplish together in the year ahead. Hereās to many more successful deployments, safe shifts, and tail wags.ā
