Dang DayLight "Savings" Time!! How do I explain to my dogs that it really is not 3:30 - and time for dinner - when they know very well that it IS time to eat?! They are being very patient with me!

We Pet Sitters are on alert! My pet-sitter friend Susan told me the Spokane weather forecast is for temps to enter the high 90's and low 100's (yes, degrees!) from this Saturday through early July!! I'm not ready!
Tips from Pet Sitters International include: Always have a supply of cool, fresh water available & add an ice cube to cool it even more. Walk your dog on the grass, or keep pavement walks very brief. Their paws can quickly burn on hot asphalt. Dogs can get heat stroke too ... & prefer shade to too much hot sun. Watch for excessive panting, reddened gums, dehydration, confusion. Get dog to a shady spot, cool with wet towels ... and call your vet.

A great way to help a dog cool down is to use a "splash splash" bowl! Fill an appropriate sized non-breakable bowl with cool water & invite your canine friend to dip their paws in it. It worked wonderfully for a walking client of mine last summer - & her dog understood pretty quickly what it was for, especially after a walk in the afternoon heat. Then she'd go inside and drink from her water bowl :) Beach towels optional

My Pearl has ALWAYS rejected carrots, apples, etc and has shown a great preference for anything with fat. Tonight I caught her stealing brocolli from the pot (which was still on the stove!!) Hi! My name is Pearl!

My mom Kathy owns Happy To See You Pet Sitting! She's really awesome. I've reluctantly agreed to let her take care of OTHER peoples dog's and cats! It really took some extra treats and tummy rubs though. Other dog's aren't so bad, but Cats? Really? I guess I'll learn to live with it;-)
