From our founder, Jamie McAtee:

As the founder of Rescue4All, I am, first and foremost, an animal advocate. I believe that animals are not mere property or commodities, but living, feeling beings deserving of the best care. My mission is to educate people about the resources available to help them care for their animals and the importance of spaying and neutering. I am a relentless fighter against animal cruelty, neglect, and abuse. I firmly believe that Humans are the ONLY Monsters and that we can do better by the animals of this earth. I am determined to make a world where animal cruelty is just a sad memory. Animals are a lifetime commitment for their ENTIRE life. There are always exceptions to every rule, but those are very rare. Just because you are moving doesn't mean you bail on your animals. I decided to start Rescue4All because there are so many animals in need and so many people who simply do not know better. I am here to stand up for ALL animals. That is the unwavering mission of Rescue4All!

Happy Day 24 of what is now ‘almost’ Every Day in May 🥰

This is one of the 3 spots on our walk around the Refuge where we take a break on sunny nice days to sit in the shade of one of our 3 pine trees.

Gotta get my USA weedeater out and clean it up but the dogs don’t mind the tall grass.

Hope you’re having a great day 🫶

I am not looking forward to the fire season this year in any way shape or form… there is a fire right now that started as some spot fires over 2 acres and now it is 10 acres. It is scary dry already, and it’s just going to get worse, which is terrifying.

I hope all of the firefighters, , and anyone and everyone who is helping extinguish the fire are staying safe and I hope that they’re able to extinguish the fire quickly with minimal loss and minimal injuries.

What week!??!? You may have noticed I haven’t posted this week for Every Day In May and I have a legitimate reason….

I dropped my phone in a bowl of dog water and lost everything.

Getting a new my service restored turned into a nearly three hour nightmare with that I am sharing with you. It was one of the worst customer service experiences I have had.

The bright spot was the awesome help from Kyle, Yesh, and Phillip at the Apple Store in Spokane at River Park Square. They took care of me, got me a loaner phone, and made sure I wasn’t completely without a lifeline.

I am back now, phone is working, and so am I. The dogs are good, the rescue is good, and we are back to our every day in May posts starting now.

Thank you for your patience. We never stop, even when everything goes sideways.

To Visible and your “We completely understand DM us to chat” 🖕

You have my phone number have a supervisor call me or at the bare minimum reply to one of the two emails I sent within 20 hours of each other. ✌️

Did you know that today is what I think is THE BEST DAY of the year? It's NATIONAL RESCUE DOG DAY!!!!!!!!

Dude, aka Doodle the Poodle, aka Dude the Pood, is one of 4 megaesophagus dogs that I am currently caring for. We also have Lincoln and my personal dogs, Hadley and Weston

His life was almost ended when he was just a puppy, but he got a second chance as a Rescue Dog, and today he is alive and thriving! It's mind-blowing to know that in our 13 years, 46 dogs/puppies with megaesophagus have come to Rescue4All and have found loving, committed adoptive families.

I'd love to see your rescue dogs and hear their story! Post your cutest pics in the comments and tell me about them!

You lose pieces of yourself.
You lose your old life.
You lose the version of yourself who had weekends, evenings, or the ability to turn your phone off.

You live inside a level of isolation that most people cannot imagine and that no one prepares you for.
You live where you work.
You work where you sleep.
You wake up to barking, meds, cleaning, feeding, and emergencies that do not wait.

You get up exhausted and go to bed exhausted thinking about the dogs who always need something.

There are no days off.
There are no vacations.
You do not get sick days.

You do not get to tap out when you are emotionally drained, physically exhausted, or overwhelmed.

The dogs still need to be fed, cared for, exercised, trained, cleaned up after and given lifetime safety every single day of the year.

You have to perpetually raise funds, build trust, maintain transparency, and ask strangers to help you carry a load they will never fully see.

The pressure never stops.

You have to find money to keep everyone alive.

You know that falling short, is not an option because the dogs are who will pay the price, and you will lose your path…your soul…your purpose.

You also learn the hardest truth of real rescue and how prevalent human selfishness, irresponsibility, and indifference truly is.

Most people love the idea of rescue.

Very few understand the grueling work it takes to keep 60+ dogs alive, fulfilled, healthy, and give them stability day after day.

This is the cost of dedicating your life to dogs.
It is hard.
It is lonely.
It is unceasing.

You do it anyway, because the dogs deserve someone who will not quit on them.

You keep going because every single day, you see proof that rescue matters.

A scared dog takes food from your hand.
A shut down dog starts to follow the herd.
A dog who came in unwanted becomes stable enough to meet an adopter who sees their worth.
Those moments fuel you.

They remind you that the aloneness, the pressure, and the exhaustion have a purpose.

The not so glamorous side is real.

So is the good.

You get to experience countless dogs heal, grow, trust and finally feel safe and secure…what every dog should have from the start.

I just wish someone would have told me.

Do you freak out when your dog digs?

I have one word for you:
🛑 STOP 🛑

Digging may be frustrating for some humans BUT it is an extremely fulfilling instinctive behavior that provides dogs with amazing mental and physical stimulation. 👏

Foster dogs Kennedy and Riley are two girls who love to dig and it’s actually healthy for them!

It is a natural and self-rewarding behavior that allows dogs to express instincts, boosts dopamine and provides them joy and satisfaction.

It's a great way for dogs to get exercise!

By digging they are engaging in and getting mental and physical fulfillment!

Don’t worry no little animals were harmed 🫶

Dogs get to be dogs here at the Refuge 🥰

11/13/2025

A huge population of “dog lovers” choose to make their dog a prisoner in their yard and house and then say "they have tried everything" when that dog has behavioral issues.

6️⃣ out of every 🔟 dogs WILL NOT BE in the same home within their first 1️⃣8️⃣0️⃣ days.

Those same people will learn nothing, they will take zero accountability for the frustrated, unfulfilled dog they created.

They will blame the dog for not knowing what they never taught them and they will give up on that dog…surrender them or rehome them…quickly forget them and then go get a new dog and repeat the same sh*tty cycle.

Having a dog exist in your house or yard because “you love them” isn’t love. You want a dog for your selfish entertainment when you feel like it.

It’s selfish and disgusting.

A dog isn’t meant to be a captive inside your property lines because you treat their needs as optional.

They deserve a fulfilling life with outside of the yard physical activity, purposeful play for their genetics to satisfy what they were originally bred to do as a job, mental stimulation and engagement every single day.

For people who truly love their dogs, meeting their needs isn’t optional.

It’s a priority.
