Hillcrest Stables We are a full care boarding facility, with a large outdoor arena, an indoor arena, individual paddock with shelters for each horse, and automatic waters.

We are located just minutes from downtown Spokane. Welcome to our page! Bob and I have been growing HIllcrest Stables for 15 years. We have tried hard to make this a pleasant and safe environment for you and your horse.

I've managed a boarding facility and been giving lessons for years. But the questions I get asked most aren't about riding.
They're things like:
"How do I know if my horse is sick?"
"What should I actually be feeding?"
"How do I find a good farrier?"
"What does a normal day of horse care even look like?"
Those questions deserve real answers, and a real course.
That's why I created "Your First Horse: The Complete Owner's Program" at Hillcrest Stables. Nine weeks. A small group of adults. A real working farm. Everything you need to go from curious or confused to genuinely confident.
Whether you've never touched a horse, you've been around them your whole life, or you just brought one home and have more questions than answers- there's a spot here for you.

It really takes a village to keep this place looking good. Big shout-out to friend of the stables, Brandon for heading up the rebuild of our wash rack. It held strong for about 20 years and felt it was time to upgrade!

Hi there! We are a full care horse boarding facility looking for a farm/ranch person who can help with the numerous aspects of a ranch.
Primary tasks involve removing manure from the paddocks, cleaning out water troughs, moving 100 pound bales of hay to shelters, w**d whacking, raking and keeping the area looking well cared for. Of course fostering positive interactions with boarders is important.

Familiarity with hand tools is a big help as small repairs are inevitable. ( W**d whackers, saws, trimmers, mowers, drills)

There is a bit of tractor work and we are happy to teach.

A big plus is if you have any experience around horses or other farm animals. You are not required to do much with them but it helps to know how to handle yourself in a pen with them.

You must have your own transportation.
The hours break down to 10-15 hours per week usually over a 2-3 day stretch. We try to work with your schedule as much as possible.

Please keep in mind this is heavy, dirty work and that the hay bales are about 100 pounds each. We provide tools for all the work but ask that you bring personal safety items such as gloves, masks and goggles if there are tasks that require these things.
This is a no smoking facility
We do not require proof of vaccination for employment.
We welcome a strong work ethic and attention to details and willingness to be flexible, able to work independently and has strong communications skills.

Seeking a farm hand for maintenance and upkeep of Horse Boarding facility. Tasks include cleaning up manure from horse pens. Cleaning up garbage and Moving hay bales that weigh 100 pounds. Likely to include fence repair and maintenance. Being handy with small power tools is needed. Tractor skills are desirable but we are willing to teach. Good attitude is important.

Cannot guarantee more than 10 hours a week but as the weather warms up it is likely to increase. We are willing to be flexible to scheduling needs.

If you have worked around large animals before, this would be helpful.

We recommend you bring your own gloves and strong waterproof boots and eye protection.

We provide the tools for the job.

This is hard, heavy, dirty work and requires someone who pays attention to details and is self motivated. We appreciate the time and energy it requires.
