Hi everyone I just wanted to update you on the current state of the rescue. In 2021 I had major changes in my personal life and due to my current situation I simply cannot operate the parrot rescue at this time. I do hope to reopen in the future, but for now Sunrise Parrot Rescue is on hiatus. I do plan on remaining a part of the parrot community here on Facebook so this isn't goodbye, but I am pausing the rescue operations. Thank you for reading, and for all of the support over the years. Please enjoy this picture of my sweet boy Emery who’s been helping me so much through this time ♥️

Simon, also known as Buddy is looking for a home to call his own! Simon is approximately 13 years old and has such a huge personality. Simon likes to play with lids and stomp and hop around on tables and the floor. He’s every bit mischievous and sneaky as he is interactive and sociable. Simon is a total mans bird and prefers men over women, he can still be polite with most women but he would thrive the best with a male owner. By far Simons favorite thing in the whole world would be his little wooden swing! Simon truly is an amazing little Senegal parrot who would make a wonderful addition to a experienced parrot owner looking for a big bird in a little package 🥰 if you’re interested in Simon feel free to message us directly to schedule a time to meet him, however if you have not had the opportunity to hear a Senegal’s high pitched call we highly recommend you check out videos before reaching out. Simons calls are very very high pitched and shrill and not for everyone.

Up for Adoption!

Chico is approximately 21 years old and looking for his forever home! Chico is a very special Quaker parrot, he has fatty liver disease that has become manageable with a low fat pellet diet. His beak needs regular grooming to keep it at a comfortable length for eating and preening. Chico like most Quaker parrots is very territorial of his cage and is very cage aggressive, however once he’s out he can be a very sweet but sassy guy. He enjoys just being with his favorite person around the house and the occasional cheek rubs. When Chico is at his happiest he likes to call himself a good boy (because he is) and take a nap so he’s all nice and rested for some good old fashioned finger nibbling. “Jester” AKA “Jessie”

Jessie here is estimated to be about 27 years old and she’s looking for a forever home! Jessie is very playful and energetic little lady she loves to dance and bop to her own tune, she likes to swing and play on her back when she’s comfortable with her person and although she isn’t as cuddly as most birds when she gets to know you she would do anything for a good head scratch ♥️ In Jessie’s downtime she simply enjoys being with her person, she is just as comfortable watching a movie with you as she is being out in the garden with you. However as nice and wonderful as she is she can still bite and have an attitude like any parrot. Jessie’s full backstory is unknown so we don’t know how she is around kids but she likes girls and would do anything for a man with a beard, the downside being she likes men with beards a little too much and will lay eggs for them! Jessie is fairly plucked but she has kicked that habit, unfortunately her feather follicles are too damaged to regrow those feathers but we think she’s beautiful as is 😊 Jessie does come with a cage, a travel cage some feather supplements and a little baggie of food she is currently eating roudybush but also enjoys zupreem naturals and nutblend.

meet Mozart!

Mozart is a older sun conure estimated to be between 10-15 years old, he loves composing an assortment of screams always available for his peers, so apartments are out of the question for this shrill boy. Mozart is a very fun little guy and loves his ladies but that doesn’t mean he hates guys. He enjoys sitting on your shoulder and being apart of your day. Mozart comes with a cage, travel cage and a baggie of roudybush. Mozart does get along with most Conure’s his size. If you haven’t owned a sun conure or larger conure before we strongly recommend listening to clips of their scream online before inquiring about Mozart they have a very high pitched very strong call that he isn’t afraid to sound off right in your ear. Keetis is looking for a new home he’s a 27 year old catalina macaw. Keetis is a very high energy and hormonal guy he loves being apart of the family and going outside, he wants to interact with everyone he meets but that doesn’t mean he’s polite with everyone he meets. Keetis HATES men with hats. Keetis wants to be the center of attention but he also likes being a troublemaker, he’s a trickster and a cuddle machine. He would thrive best in a home with little to no other birds since he’s so high maintenance and energetic, he would also do best in a home with a confident and experienced macaw handler as he can have such big mood swings with a powerful bite to back it up. He will not be rehomed to anyone with kids under 5 years old he will bite them and go for bruises and blood it’s best for him to go to a home with either older children that know to keep their distance or to a home with no kids at all. Keetis doesn’t mind dogs and cats but keep in mind anything within chewing distance is fair game. Like most macaws Keetis is also very loud he likes to scream when he’s excited, jealous, bored etc so he has to go to a house no apartments or duplexes. All that being said Keetis is one of the most eccentric macaws I’ve ever met he loves to sing, whistle, count, talk, take showers, he’ll follow you around the house mumbling and asking to be picked up when he’s in a good mood he’ll crawl into your lap and melt for a good face scritch.
