🐾 No Pack Walk This Saturday 🐾

Instead of our regular pack walk, we'll be joining the Spokane Humane Society for their Parade of Paws fundraiser and helping support the animals in their care. ❤️

Firework prep does not start on the Fourth of July. It starts now, with small routines that help your dog feel more secure before the noise, chaos, and unpredictability begin.

The Fourth of July is one of the most stressful holidays of the year for many dogs. Before the fireworks start, take time to set your dog up with a quiet, familiar space where they can decompress and feel safe.

This could be a crate, bedroom, laundry room, gated-off area, or quiet corner of the house. The key is to make this space feel familiar before your dog actually needs it. Start spending calm time there now. Feed meals there. Offer chews or enrichment there. Practice short crate or place sessions. Add calm background noise like a fan, TV, white noise machine, or calming music.

We don’t want the safe space to feel new or stressful on the night of the fireworks. We want your dog to already understand: “This is where I can settle.”

A few things to consider adding:
• Comfortable bedding
• Water access
• White noise, fan, TV, or calming music
• A crate cover if your dog likes that
• High value chews - frozen Kongs, lick mats, or long-lasting chews
• Distance from windows and exterior doors

The goal is simple: give your dog a place that feels secure, predictable, and calm when the world outside gets loud.
Start now. Your dog will thank you later.

Meet Annie — a true transformation story. 🐾

Over the past few months, Annie has put in an incredible amount of work with us, and the progress she’s made has been amazing to watch.

When she first came in, she was a rambunctious, hard-to-manage girl who struggled around other dogs, impulse control, and overstimulation. Walks were challenging, excitement levels were high, and trust had to be built step by step.

Today, Annie is thriving. She’s become a playful, well-mannered, easy-to-walk companion who continues to impress us every day. One of the biggest milestones in her journey has been learning how to appropriately interact with other dogs — and now she’s even playing with them. Watching her engage happily and confidently with canine friends has been incredibly rewarding and such a huge testament to how far she’s come.

Annie is also getting close to being trusted off leash, something that once felt far out of reach. While she still has some skills to improve on - her confidence, focus, and ability to make good choices continues to grow every day. Annie’s story is proof that with consistency, structure, patience, and the right guidance, transformation is absolutely possible. We’re beyond proud of this sweet girl and excited to watch her continue to flourish. ❤️

Join us tomorrow morning (Saturday 05/23) at 9 AM for our weekly donation-only community pack walk.

Pack walks are a great opportunity to practice calm socialization, structured walking, neutrality around other dogs and people, and get out with other dog owners in the community.

All dogs are welcome. If your dog has any behavioral concerns or needs extra space, please reach out ahead of time so we can help make the walk safe and successful for everyone.

Josie found her forever home… now it’s Rocky’s turn.
We are so excited to share that Josie has officially been adopted!

Now Rocky is the last one waiting for his forever home, and we would love to help get him in front of the right people.

Rocky has been through a lot, including an ankle replacement, and he has put in so much work during his time here with training. He has shown us what a sweet, goofy, resilient boy he is, and now he’s ready for a family of his own.

Rocky does well with kids and cats with supervision. He is a big guy who sometimes forgets his size, so thoughtful management is important, but he truly has such a sweet heart. He also does well with other bigger dogs. Younger dogs or dogs who do not understand boundaries yet can annoy him, so he would do best with respectful dog friends and proper introductions.

Rocky deserves a home that understands good dogs are not always “perfect” right away. Sometimes they just need patience, leadership, consistency, and someone willing to give them a real chance.

He has already had people in his corner - Now he needs his person.

If you are looking for a dog to grow with, invest in, and build a bond with, Rocky may be the one you’ve been waiting for.

Our 90-minute "𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐨𝐠 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩: 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 & 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬" is designed to help owners better understand reactivity and learn the foundations of safely beginning the desensitization process.

This workshop is heavily focused on owner education.
We’ll discuss:
The foundations of reactivity
Common training mistakes
How dogs learn through exposure
Building neutrality and engagement
Practical ways to begin improving confidence in real-world situations

We’re taking a short break this weekend due to a personal event, but we wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us last week at Plantes Ferry.

We love seeing this community continue to show up, walk together, work their dogs, ask questions, and support each other. Pack walks are one of our favorite ways to connect outside of formal training, and we’re so grateful for every person and dog who comes out.

We’ll be back at it next week at Sky Prairie, and then the following week we’ll be walking for a cause at 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲’𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐰𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟑𝟎𝐭𝐡!

Parade of Paws is a 1–2 mile fundraising walk that helps support the animals at Spokane Humane Society while they wait for their forever homes. There will be music, food and drinks, vendors, dogs, families, and a whole lot of community fun.

And with National Rescue Pet Day coming up on May 20th, we wanted to introduce you to two adoptable dogs currently looking for their forever homes after spending time training with us through the Spokane Humane Society.

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐲 & 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐞. ❤️

Rocky is a big, loyal lovebug who has made huge strides in training since joining us. He previously underwent ankle surgery before coming to training, but it hasn’t slowed down his joy for life one bit. He has been working hard on leash manners, obedience, impulse control, and engagement out in public — and he continues to impress us with how resilient and affectionate he is.

Help us find him the right home to continue helping him grow and succeed. Rocky is smart, affectionate, and ready for his people. 🐾

Josie recently joined us as well! She is a 7-month-old mixed breed puppy with lots of puppy energy currently being funneled into training, engagement, and impulse control work. She is smart, friendly, active, and learning quickly — especially when it comes to channeling her excitement in more appropriate ways. Those floppy ears while walking kill me every time 😍

These dogs deserve families who will continue helping them thrive.
