As we wrap up an incredible 2-day Scent Work trial, the Spokane Dog Training Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this weekend such a success.

First and foremost, thank you to our amazing Trial Chair and Trial Secretary. Your countless hours of preparation, organization, and behind-the-scenes problem solving ensured that everything ran seamlessly from the first walkthrough to the final ribbon. Events like this simply don’t happen without your dedication and steady leadership.

We are also deeply grateful to our judges for designing thoughtful, challenging searches and for creating a positive experience for every team who stepped to the line. Your professionalism and consistency are so appreciated.
To our volunteers - timers, scribes, stewards, hospitality crew, setup and teardown teams - thank you. Your willingness to jump in wherever needed kept the trial running smoothly and on schedule all weekend long. It truly takes a team effort, and SDTC has the best.

A special thank you as well to the school for allowing us to use your facility. We are incredibly appreciative of the opportunity to host our trial in such a welcoming and accommodating space.

We’re proud of how well the weekend flowed - efficient, organized, and supportive for exhibitors and dogs alike. It was wonderful to see so many teams having success and enjoying the sport we all love.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this trial such a smooth and successful event. We look forward to seeing you at the next one!

🎉 Registration for New Students Is Now Open! 🎉

Our first session of 2026 officially opened for registration on 12/22/2025, and we’re thrilled to welcome new teams into the Spokane Dog Training Club community.

Many of our classes filled quickly this year, but we still have a handful of spots available for those eager to jump in. If the class you want is currently full, don’t worry - our waiting list often moves, and many students are still able to join before the session begins.

📣 Entries are OPEN for our AKC Obedience & Rally Trial on October 4–5, 2025!

We’re excited to welcome our judging panel:
⭐ Carole Lynn Evans (stepping in for Laura Delfino)
⭐ Stella Rowlett
⭐ Earl Vaughan

🐾 Rally will be held outdoors on grass. October weather in our area can be unpredictable—sun, wind, or a little rain—so dressing in layers is your best bet for comfort throughout the day.

🚨 Attention Nose Nerds! 🚨
Spokane Dog Training Club is sniffing out talent (literally) at our AKC Scent Work Trial this September 12–14 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Davenport, WA!
🎯 Three days of:
🕵️‍♀️ Detective drama
💩 Buried secrets
🧦 Handler Discrimination (aka "Whose laundry is this??")
🛋️ Interior sniffs
🌲 Exterior escapades

If your dog lives to stick their nose where it doesn’t belong (and yours only does that for food wrappers), this is their Super Bowl.

💥 Entry opens August 6 @ 7AM (PDT) – and no, you can't send your entry in early wrapped in bacon to bribe the secretary. We’ve tried. She’s immune.
🛑 Closes August 29 @ 7PM sharp – like a German Shepherd’s alert at 30 feet.
🐾 Limit: 375 entries/day + 32 detectives. If your dog’s nose has a resume, now’s the time.

💸 $25 per class, $40 for Detective (because uncovering conspiracies costs extra).
💼 Judges? Yes. Several. All with exceptional noses and excellent hats.
🏅 Titles, ribbons, and bragging rights are on the line.

Spectators? Maybe. Training on site? Nope. Drama? Probably.
Fun? ABSOLUTELY.

So grab your leash, your dog, and maybe a raincoat (just in case), and join us in September to find out:
Who’s a good sniffer?

Consider the Spokane Dog Training Club July Agility trial baked! Thank you to our judge Christian Eckhoff for bringing over some cooler western Washington weather 🌧️ for Saturday and the challenging courses! Sunday came along with our regularly scheduled summer weather but we were finished by about 4pm so no one roasted too much.

When I asked for volunteers to help set up at 10am on July 4th, you all said bet and showed up way early! 💪 By the time I arrived at 9:50am, the building was nearly cleared out and ready for crating and the ring already had most of the corners set, it was just about time to put up the fencing! You guys showed up and showed off.
Despite a little dust devil 🌪️ dropping in and destroying a canopy then making our chief course builder rebuild half the course the weekend was smooth sailing.

Volunteers were ready for nearly all the classes, exhibitors were at the gate chomping at the bit to run their dogs. 🐕 OK maybe their dogs were chomping at the bit while the handler waffled on whether or not to commit to the blind, go with the safe front cross option, or if their dog was going to be in sport mode and needed a rear cross on some of those complicated turns on these courses.

Thank you all for making this weekend wonderful. Congratulations to everyone who got some Q’s, got a title or two, and to the person who earned a PACH on Sunday.

We hope to see everyone and more next year for a July 4th & 5th 2026 agility trial. Our judge will be the fantastic Torka Poet!
