Another day, another 2 ferrets surrendered.
The owner failed to care for these young boys and was encouraged to surrender them by their roommate. Limited to no food and dirty cage. We are forever grateful to the roommate who got them away from the owner.
These boys are so thin. It will take a month to get weight back on. I am eternally grateful for recent food donations. You all are angels.

Please welcome 2 sad 6 yr old ferrets transferred from a cat/dog rescue in central Washington. Owner couldn't afford care is all we know. Rescue is not set up for ferrets. Male has adrenal and a huge mass in on lymph gland. Female is very stressed and thin.
At this point I am not sure how long we have with them but we will do what we can. We don't have their original names so just gave them some.

Please welcome the other 7 yr old surrendered this past weekend. She has clear signs of adrenal and the only reason her owner did not start treatment is because of the vet they went to. When she started to loose hair last year, the vet said "you don't need to start treatment yet because the disease is not advanced enough". If a vet says that to you, either find another vet or insist you want to start it anyway. Now a year later, she has more symptoms and will get treatment started. Thank you for your support so we can help these precious souls.

They boys will be evaluated over the coming weeks before being available for adoption.

One of the four ferrets who came in this weekend. She deserves her own story.
Knives belonged to a family all her 7 years. Her cagemate passed and they had lost interest in caring for her.
A teenage friend to the family asked if he could have her. They let her go and he left the dirty cage behind.
Mom helped get a clean new cage, food and clean bedding for this old gal. They tried for a couple months to do all they could for her but quickly found out how difficult it was to care for an old ferret.
They took this on not having had ferrets before. They bought the right food, cleaned her up and at least tried to help her.They contacted us to take her and she is super sweet. The teenager is an amazing young polite man who will go far in life. Willing to do anything to save this tiny soul. We will do all we can to help Knives continue on her healing journey. Thank you all for your support

Update.
The owner's first Corgi was fine with the ferrets. This second has a high prey drive. They have decided to fortify the ferret play area and are taking them back. So happy for these boys. They miss their owners.

Please welcome Marbles and Mochi to the rescue. Another set of ferrets pushed out of the house because of a new puppy.
Please before getting a new dog, make sure you have the ability to keep the ferrets safe in a room(s) encase the dog has too high of a prey drive.

The ferrets are enjoying the "baby beach tent" and I have to say, it is a fun little pop up play tent for them. Not sure how long it will last but they are inexpensive.

The video ended kind of abruptly as Keyna decided to press the button. All good.
Our rescue remains safe from the fires. Just dealing with very unhealthy air outside. Our small air purifiers are working hard. We have extra filters for the windows when we want to open for the cool air to come in at night.
