I figured I’d compile a list of all the species we currently breed and plan to breed here at Squawks A Lot Aviary and find homes through my store Parrots Paradise! All birds are regularly tested for PBFD, ABV and APV. If you get a baby from us they’ll be sent home with a copy of each parents test results. We also disease test the oldest baby of each clutch for PBFD and APV which you will also be sent a copy of.

Species we currently breed:
- Standard Budgies
- Lineolated Parakeets
- Black Masked Lovebirds
- Peach Faced Lovebirds
- Cockatiels (our friend breeds, we raise and find homes for!)
- Green Cheeked Conures, standard mutations as well as Dominant Red, Turquoise Blue and Blue mutations (formally known as violet factor)
- Crimson Bellied Conures
- Dusky Conures, green and lutino

Species we plan to breed. Either that haven’t been proven or are looking for a mate for a single bird:
- Black Capped Conures, wild type and opaline (both pairs unproven)
- Maroon Bellied Conures (receiving mate in spring)
- Pearly Conures (receiving mate in spring)
- Rose Fronted Conures (receiving mate in spring)
- Peach Fronted Conures (unproven)
- Plum Headed Parakeets (both pairs unproven)

I’ve moved Hex and Omen the Black Capped Conures to my house to see if a quieter environment will help them get to nesting. Hex is a normal wild type and Omen is an opaline, all babies will be wild type. During spring, before they were paired, Omen was laying blank eggs, once I paired them they took to each other immediately but no matter what I did they wouldn’t lay! I’ve tried multiple styles of boxes and different styles of cages, so now I’m trying them at my house and hoping for a better outcome. It’s late in the season, so there is a good chance nothing will happen until spring, but they already seem much more relaxed and interested in the box this time around. Fingers crossed!

Three happy, healthy Linnie’s! The third baby has dark eyes and will either be a blue or green mutation. I can’t wait to pull them for feedings and see them feather out! I have two people on my waitlist, so I’ll have at least one baby available, maybe a second if someone wants to wait until the next clutch. I can’t wait to snuggle these babies!

The baby crimson bellied conures are all starting to learn how to fly in the aviary! I still have three babies available for deposits. Crimsons tend to be very rambunctious and want to be doing everything you’re doing! Feel free to come into Parrots Paradise to meet them in person. I’ll include band number and color along with DNA results under each picture. Don’t be afraid to message us any questions either!

We have our very first Lineolated Parakeet! This little baby is either a lutino or a cremino and therefore sex-linked female. I can’t wait to have the others hatch and watch these babies grow and get to snuggle them! Stay tuned for more pictures once I pull them from the box for feeding in two weeks.

Baby cockatiel snuggles!

We don’t have any pairs at the store, the conures were too noisy and they wouldn’t go to nest. We gave them over to our good friend Jess who offered them a box and we got our first baby. So now we officially are breeding cockatiels again, they make some of the best family birds!

This little kiddo is a cinnamon pearl pied, we unfortunately missed the window to band them, but we sent out DNA testing and should get results soon. They won’t be available for a deposit until we receive DNA back, and we require multiple visits in person before approving for a deposit. But feel free to come in and meet this little baby as they grow!

Also, I’ve been super busy at the store so I haven’t been able to update my files will all the additional breeding pairs, but I plan to do that as soon as I have a minute to do so!

Well it looks like I have three bachelors waiting for their perfect ladies to show up! My rosifrons, maroon bellied and pearly conures are all boys. I have a breeder with rosifrons and maroons I plan to get females from, but still on a search for Pearly’s. I’m hoping by the end of spring we will have them all paired up!

The crimson bellied conures got to upgrade to a big kid cage yesterday! They’re always a bit nervous at first, but started playing with toys and exploring in no time. I still have one female and two males available for deposits! Feel free to message me or the store for more information, or come in to meet them in person!

Welcoming a new addition to the flock and breeding program!

This will either be Vesper or Salem depending on what the DNA result comes back as. They are a Rose Fronted Conure aka a rosifron. I’ve been a huge fan of this species for a long time and have always wanted them, I’m so excited that it’s becoming a reality! This kiddo is in a quarantine cage while we do disease testing as well. I can’t wait to see them in their adult plumage!

DNA results are in! We have three boys and one girl. One of the boys is reserved already, but the other three kiddos are ready for their deposits! I will include their band number and DNA result under each picture.
