Investigators in East Texas have returned to the property of a man who disappeared late last year, searching the woods behind his home as the case continues to unfold.

James David Blount, 57, of Rusk, Texas was last seen on December 2, 2025. When family members could not reach him the next day, he was reported missing. Four days later, his truck was located parked along U.S. Highway 84 near the Neches River. Blount was not with the vehicle, and he has not been seen since. Search teams worked the river area after the truck was discovered, but those efforts did not produce answers.

Now investigators are taking another look closer to home.
The recent search focused on the wooded land directly behind Blount’s residence and workshop along Highway 84, where deputies spent time working through the area as part of the ongoing investigation.

Sheriff Brent Dickson said investigators recovered what he described as “a bunch of different stuff,” but authorities have not said what those items were or whether they are connected to the disappearance.
Anyone with information about the disappearance of James David Blount is asked to contact the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
