Just a quick heads-up that we will be open from 10 AM–4 PM this Wednesday (8/12) instead of our usual Wednesday hours of 2–8 PM.

This is a one-week change only — we’ll be back to our regular Wednesday hours next week!

Please note that tomorrow, Wednesday, July 15, our hours will be different from our usual Wednesday schedule.

🕘 Open: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Closed for lunch: 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM

(Our normal Wednesday hours are 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM.)

If you need to pick up medications, food, or have any questions, please plan accordingly and give us a call at 508-885-4848.

🎆 More Fireworks Are Still to Come! 🎆

The Fourth of July may be over, but fireworks aren't! Many celebrations continue throughout the summer, and loud noises can be stressful for our pets.

If your pet has a history of anxiety during fireworks or loud events, now is the time to request any needed calming medications. Please don't wait until the day of the event, as we may not be able to accommodate last-minute refill requests.

🐾 Keep pets safely indoors during fireworks.
🐾 Create a quiet, comfortable space for them to relax.
🐾 Make sure their ID tags and microchip information are up to date.

🥵 Heat Warning This Week ☀️

With temperatures expected to remain dangerously high over the next few days, the safest place for most pets is indoors in the air conditioning.

Please limit outdoor time to quick potty breaks, provide plenty of fresh water, and avoid walks for the next couple days. Remember, pavement can become hot enough to burn paw pads in just minutes.

Watch for signs of heat stress, including:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Drooling
🐾 Weakness or lethargy
🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Bright red gums or collapse

Heatstroke is a medical emergency. If you think your pet is suffering from heatstroke, seek veterinary care immediately.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and help your pets beat the heat! ❤️

While we look forward to fireworks, cookouts, and celebrations, many of our pets find the holiday stressful and overwhelming.

Here are a few ways to help keep your furry family members safe and comfortable:

🐾 Keep pets indoors during fireworks.

🐾 Make sure collars, ID tags, and microchip information are up to date.

🐾 Create a quiet, comfortable space with familiar blankets, toys, or calming music.

🐾 Keep BBQ foods, alcohol, glow sticks, and fireworks safely out of reach.

💊 Does your pet need anxiety medication for fireworks? If your pet has used anti-anxiety medication in the past, now is the time to request refills or schedule a consultation. Medications work best when started before the holiday festivities begin.

🍄🌷 Spring Safety Reminder from Spencer Veterinary Hospital 🐾

Did you know some common mushrooms, plants, and flowers can be dangerous for pets? As the weather warms up, curious pets are more likely to explore the yard, garden, and neighborhood walks.

⚠️ Toxic mushrooms and plants can cause:
• Vomiting & diarrhea
• Drooling or lethargy
• Trouble breathing
• Seizures or tremors
• Liver damage in severe cases

Lilies are especially dangerous for cats, and wild mushrooms should always be treated as potentially toxic.

✅ Keep your pets safe by:
• Monitoring outdoor playtime
• Keeping toxic plants out of reach
• Avoiding unknown mushrooms
• Contacting a veterinarian immediately if you suspect ingestion
