🐾Shelter work is hard work.
Every day, we see the good 😊, the bad 😔, and sometimes even the heartbreaking 😢 situations that animals endure. There are days when we celebrate victories 🎉, and there are days when we leave completely exhausted and on the verge of tears. 😭
But then we receive updates from families who have adopted one of our shelter dogs 🐶, and suddenly every ounce of hard work feels worth it. Those moments remind us exactly why we do what we do. ❤️
Here is one of the most heartwarming updates we’ve ever received. ⬇️
Many of you may remember Piper, a small fuzzy puppy who was part of a group of dogs of all ages that had been abandoned on a property here in our county. The dogs were safely rescued and brought into our shelter. After receiving veterinary care, all of the puppies and dogs found wonderful homes 🏡 up north—except for Piper.
💕Piper was adopted locally by one of the sweetest families, and she grew into a beautiful dog and the very best friend to a precious little girl named Graylynn. 🐾
When Piper’s mom sent us this photo, it brought tears to our eyes. 🥹 It is one of the sweetest things we’ve seen in a very long time.
Since the day Piper was adopted, she and Graylynn have been inseparable. From endless cuddles 💕, to waiting in the car rider line after school 🚙, family outings 👧🏼, holiday photos 📷, and now this precious moment of hugging while saying bedtime prayers 🙏🏻, Piper has become a beloved member of the family. 💜
Looking at this picture, it’s impossible not to feel grateful. Piper’s life could have turned out so differently, but instead she found a family who loves her unconditionally.
