Region 3 Dressage championships!
I will start with Stefanie Gagliardi and Norwynn who competed in the 2 largest AA class in believe of all the regions. They finished 12th out of 30 in the AA training level championship on their personal best score of 69%. Both were a bit tired on Sunday for their AA 1st Level championship test but still did well staying right in the middle of the field of 40 competitors with a 64+%.
Morocco put in a good effort in the open PSG but and unfortunate mistake in the second half pass and late change kept us below his normal average and finished in the lower half with a 61.8%. 17th/23 so not in last!
Gran Amor SK aka Gus, always keeps me on my toes. Despite having some bad bug bites, maybe hives between his back legs, and belly area that were super itchy and irritating him, he still gave me three good efforts. Our first test was the 3rd level open championship on Friday. We finished 3rd out of 22 with a 68+%. Saturday was tuff with our 3rd level freestyle at 1:48. He was a bit uneasy in the coverd arena and decided twords the end of our freestyle that the rails were over rated and kicked some down just passed the c judge. But I managed to get his feet back under him for our line of changes and we finished 5th of 13 with not out best score of the season of a 68+%. Still happy though. But with a short break after the freestyle, we had to get back out for our 4th level open championship test ride at 4pm down the centerline. I didn't have much expectations going into this class of 14 competitors. We had only road the test 3 time before and are still working on more strength for the level. So I was a bit surprised with a 64+% to finish 8th and be in the awards. I didn't know until we were waiting to go in for the award ceremony for the freestyle that we made it in for the 4th level. So that was fun!
Lastly, I made the decision for Duke of Tryon last minute not to make the trip to regionals. He was a little off a few days prior to leaving. So long term we though it best not to go. He was missed but he seemed to have enjoyed having few days off.
