Meet our September Dog of the Month
*****Mate*****
Mate (rhymes with latte) is a 9 year old mixed breed. Her parents did a DNA test on her that came back as part shih tzu, jack russell, chihuahua and 30% unknown, however, they suspect the unknown could be basenji. She and her 3 sisters were found abandoned in a cardboard box. They were rescued by Lucky Pup SC, who named her Dorothy. Her parents changed her name to Mate following the tradition of food and beverage themed pet names (previous family jack russells: Julep and Trifle) Mate is a sweet, mellow girl who can be a bit skittish when she first meets someone, but once she warms up she is ready to play ball! Her parents will frequently toss her ball up on their courtyard’s slanted metal roof for Mate. She can pinpoint the ball and catch it with the precision of an attack drone before it ever hits the pavers. She also loves her squeaky toys, going on walks, having visitors, napping, and watching for intruders from one of her many beds. She loves to hog the bed and get belly rubs. She is an intuitive sensitive girl who senses if her parents are upset or distressed. She knows just the way to cheer them up though! They are crazy about her and her sweet disposition. We’ve enjoyed Mate’s company at Woodpoint since she was a puppy and are so lucky to know her!
