Congratulations to this young fella , his dad reached out to me, dropped the pin and the rest was history.
Nothing like spending an evening tracking down a big buck with your dad and buddy!
I was happy I could be apart of this one, tracks like these are special to me just seeing the youth get in the outdoors!

Every tracking dog has a story, but every great tracking dog also has a handler who has invested countless hours into making them successful.

This week, we're proud to introduce Nash, the tracking partner of Lane Emery with On Point Deer Recovery

At just three years old with three years of tracking experience, Nash has been putting his nose to work from an early age. Over those years, Lane and Nash have built their partnership through time in the woods, learning to trust one another and working together when a track doesn't quite go according to plan.

Nash does have a couple of complaints about his handler, though. Apparently Lane talks too much... and his shooting could use a little work. 😂 Nash says he's already trying to sign Dad up for shooting lessons after a few misses on Nash does have a couple of complaints about his handler, though. When he's off the clock, Nash keeps things pretty simple: a tennis ball, some deer steak, and his spot in the Gunner Kennel.

🦌 KNOW WHEN TO CALL A DOG 🐕

Not every deer leaves an easy blood trail. Sometimes the blood gets sparse, disappears completely, or the sign just doesn’t match what you expected from the shot.

One of the biggest mistakes after a questionable hit is pushing too far and turning a recoverable deer into a much harder track.

If you’re unsure of the hit, find gut material, have little or no blood, suspect a low or single-lung hit, or simply don’t feel right about what you’re seeing — when in doubt, back out.

Give us a call as soon as possible. Tell us exactly what happened, mark the last blood, save your point of impact, and send pictures or video if you have them. The more information we have, the better we can make a plan.
