Staffed by volunteers so there is not always someone present. Beginning in 1992 as a non-profit animal rescue group, A.S./A.P. (Associated Society/Animal Protection) evolved into a no-kill, limited capacity cat shelter by 2001. Since it's inception, the independent organization has functioned solely on private donations, fundraisers, and volunteers. There is no financial support from the county, s

tate, or any other group. Our mission is to take in stray cats and kittens as space allows and find permanent, loving homes for them after they're examined by a veterinarian, FIV/Leuk tested, wormed, vaccinated, flea-treated, spayed/neutered plus treated for whatever medical conditions they arrive with-anything from respiratory infections to broken bones and gunshots wounds. We have an outreach program where we can offer some help to people with their own cats (or cats they find) depending upon our available resources. The cats housed at A.S./A.P. get a clean, warm environment with nutritious food, lots of compassionate care, and plenty of time to run, frolic, and interact with other cats and people. There is a wide variety of personalities and surely one that is just right for you. Potential adopters complete an application and are screened for the ability to provide permanent, quality care for a cat. Our staff try to match the adopter with the appropriate cat for their home, and follow-up support is available after the adoption.

🏡 Could Kasson’s home be with you? ❤️

Kasson may be shy when she first meets you, but give her a little time and you’ll discover the incredibly sweet girl underneath. Once she knows you’re a friend, she’ll seek you out for attention, meow to make sure you know she’s waiting for pets, and even show off her adorable belly flops. 🥹

And as you can see in this video, Kasson is making very sure our volunteer knows she’s there and ready for some love! ❤️

Kasson also shares a very special relationship with her brother, Austin. While they aren’t always side by side, they are very close and take so much comfort and confidence from one another. We truly believe Kasson and Austin would thrive in a patient, loving home together.

A new home will be a big change for both of them, and they’ll need an adopter who understands that trust takes time. They’ll need the freedom to adjust at their own pace without being rushed, and having each other along the way will provide some of the comfort and confidence they need as they settle in. ❤️

Bringing a new cat home is exciting, and we all hope they’ll walk in like they’ve lived there forever. ❤️ While some cats do, others may need days, weeks, or even months to adjust.

Patience is key — for your new cat, for you, and for any existing pets in the home. Those first interactions can help set the pace and tone, so take things slowly and give everyone the time and space they need.

Beautiful Kyki, formerly our Kanika, has adapted wonderfully to her forever home and has developed a very special bond with the resident cat, Squishy. 🐱❤️🐱

Her whole family is thrilled, and seeing Kyki so happy, loved, and cozy in her new home makes our hearts happy too! 🥰

We can’t believe this handsome boy is still waiting for his forever home! Moki is more than ready to find his person and have a home to call his own. 🏡❤️

Moki is an absolute sweetheart who loves people. He loves to sit on your lap, soak up attention, and most of all… talk! Moki always has something to say and plenty of stories to tell. 😹 And it’s pretty hard to resist him when he looks at you with those gorgeous eyes. Add in that big fluffy tail, and this boy is something special. 🖤

Moki has so much love to give, and we know he would absolutely blossom with a family of his own. He loves being with people, and we would love nothing more than to see this sweet boy getting all the love and attention he deserves in a forever home. 🐾

🐾 Hi, I’m Curtis! I’m 3 years old. 🐾

When I first came to the shelter, I was a pretty timid guy. New people, unfamiliar sounds and changes made me nervous, and I preferred watching everything from a safe distance.

But lately? I’ve been putting on my brave! ❤️

I’ve really started coming out of my shell and now approach volunteers looking for love. And once the pets start, I cannot get enough! I might just be trying to break the shelter record for who can be petted the longest. 😹❤️

I LOVE treats, snoozing in a warm patch of sunshine ☀️ and catching the birdie on a string… but shhh, don’t tell Austin he’s got some competition! 🤫🐦 I’ll even twirl around your legs like I’m practicing for Dancing with the Stars. And my adorable little tail? It only adds to my charm and good looks. 😻

I’ve made amazing progress, but I’ll still need a patient, cat-savvy adopter who understands I may need some time to adjust to a new home. Give me a chance to feel safe, and I’ll show you just how lovable I can be. ❤️

I’m also FIV-positive, but that certainly doesn’t stop me from enjoying life and dreaming about a family of my own.

I’ve found my brave… now I just need to find my forever home. 🐾❤️
