SERVICE APPRECIATION AWARD

One of Dr. Edds' special interests in the veterinary realm is working dogs. You may not know that she is the veterinarian for not only White County K9 units, but the K9 units for several surrounding counties.

On Monday, Putnam County Sheriff's Department officers Josh Hull, Sam Reed, and Zach Simmons stopped by with K9s Sarge, Tuco, and Scooter. They were examined by Dr. Edds and then presented her with a service appreciation award from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

We are so proud of Dr. Edds and her dedication to keep our K9s healthy so that they can continue to serve their counties. Her focus on community is just one of the things that sets Bluegrass Vet apart!

Bluegrass Veterinary Clinic will be CLOSED Monday, September 7 for Labor Day. If your pet will be needing medication or prescription food before Tuesday, please give us a call today so we can get that filled for you.

If your pet has an emergency over the holiday weekend, please contact VCA RIVER in Chattanooga at (423)698-4612 for 24 hour emergency care.

NATIONAL DOG DAY - AUGUST 26, 2026

Hip hip hooray, today is National Dog Day! National Dog Day was established in 2004 as a way to celebrate all dogs (whether purebred or mutt), to promote shelter adoption, and to raise awareness about animal welfare.

So today, we want to celebrate all your dogs! Post a picture of your pup in the comments, and on Thursday, we'll randomly pick someone to win a FREE pet odor candle of your choice!

SIX DOCTORS, ONE MISSION

Did you know that Bluegrass Vet now has six doctors (4 full-time and 2 part-time) to serve our wonderful community? Dr. Edds has been hard at work finding some of the best veterinarians to serve the pets of the Upper Cumberland and we are now equipped to see more patients than ever before!

So what does this mean for you? Just a couple of the benefits are:

❣ MORE APPOINTMENT TIMES AVAILABLE (including limited same-day sick appointments because sicknesses and injuries don't always fit a schedule 😉)

❣ FARM CALLS ON MONDAYS AND FRIDAYS (as well as other days based on availability)

❣ SHORTER WAIT TIMES ON WALK-IN DAYS

❣ MORE DROP OFF SLOTS AVAILABLE

Some of you may be asking, who are all these veterinarians and what do they all do? I'm glad you asked!

👩‍⚕️DR. EDDS: The original, the owner, the one who started this place. Full-time staff member. Appointments, walk-ins, surgery, farm calls.

👩‍⚕️DR. HOFFMEYER: Since May 2025. Full-time staff member. Appointments, walk-ins, surgery, farm calls.

👩‍⚕️DR. BRADY: Part-time starting in May 2024, Full-time since May 2026. Appointments, walk-ins, surgery, farm calls.

👩‍⚕️DR. DOUGLAS: Since June 2026. Full-time. Appointments, walk-ins, surgery on as needed basis.

👩‍⚕️DR. WILSON: Full-time from May 2020-November 2025, part-time since November 2025. Surgery and walk-ins on Mondays.

👩‍⚕️DR. MATTHEWS: Relief beginning in May 2025, part-time since March 2026. Appointments on Tuesdays, walk-ins on Fridays, surgery on an as needed basis.

So there you have it! Like we said earlier: six doctors, one mission. What you don't see is what happens behind the scenes with this exceptional group of women. When you bring your pet in, you may only see one doctor but they are working in the back together, bouncing ideas off of each other, consulting on X-rays, scrubbing in on surgery for an extra set of hands, and so much more. It's an honor to get to witness them and their incredible care each and every day.

FAIR TIME IS ALMOST HERE!!!!!

Is your horse ready for the White County Fair? Give us a call and make an appointment for Coggins and vaccines to make sure that your horse is ready to strut their stuff when fair time comes around!

DID YOU KNOW...

We now have THREE veterinarians who see large animals? You can either trailer your large animal to the clinic to be seen OR make an appointment for a farm call. We currently have farm calls available on Mondays and Fridays. Just give us a call at (931)352-1120 to set up your appointment today!

We are not only here to provide exceptional care to your pets, we are your fellow parents and community members and are striving to do all we can to keep White County great.
