We don’t believe in breed bans. But we DO believe in owner accountability.
If you want to own a Pit Bull, German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Rottweiler, Cane Corso — or any other powerful breed — you should be prepared and educated BEFORE you get one.

Imagine if owners were required to prove basic skills like:
✅ Your dog listens to you
✅ Your dog isn’t pulling people down
✅ Your dog is neutral and safe in public
That’s not too much to ask — that’s just responsible ownership! 💪

The dog is never the problem. It’s always about the owner and how that dog was raised, socialized, and trained. 🐶❤️

Thinking about getting a Pit Bull or a high drive breed? Make sure you are truly ready for that commitment — physically, mentally, and with the right training support behind you!

How to say “no” without saying “no” 🐾

❌ Dog whining ? → Ignore it
🚪 Jumping on guests? → Ask for a sit
🍽️ Begging at the table? → Use the crate
🧦 Stealing socks? → Use a leash
🐿️ Lunging at squirrels? → Ask for look at me
🧁Pup not engaging? → Get some extra yummy treats

Are choke chains ever justified? 🐾 Yes — and here’s why!

In sport dog training, large link choke chains are still used today — and that’s actually how our founder Bill got his start in dog training!

Here’s the thing — the correction happens and immediately releases. The chain falls loose right away, so it’s quick and clear for the dog. ✅

Slip leads work on the EXACT same principle — same correction, same quick release — just in prettier colors! 😂
Any tool in the right hands, with the right knowledge = justified.

Is it cruel to train your dog using food only with no verbal praise? 🐾 Not cruel — but here’s what you’re missing!

If you’re using food to train, that’s great — food is a powerful motivator! But here’s what you NEED to add into the mix 👇
Always pair a marker with the reward! ✅
This means the moment your dog does the right thing, you:
* Say a marker word like “Yes!” — OR
* Use a clicker 🖱️
THEN give the food reward.
That marker is what tells your dog exactly what they did right. Without it, the food still works — but the communication is fuzzy. 💭

Late night things to ponder!🤔

Should you let your puppy cry in the crate? 🐾 Yes and no — let us explain!

First things first — give your puppy something to do in the crate! A chew, a frozen Kong, a treat puzzle — keep them busy and the crate becomes a good place, not a sad place.
Now here’s the real answer👇

😢 A little fussing and crying? That’s totally normal and okay! If your puppy cries for 15–20 minutes and then settles down, lays down and calms themselves — that’s actually a GOOD thing. They’re learning to self-soothe and that the crate is safe. Let them work through it! ✅
🚨 BUT — there’s a line. If your puppy is absolutely inconsolable, panicking, throwing themselves at the crate, or the crying never stops — that could be a sign of serious separation anxiety. That’s a different situation entirely and does need intervention. ⚠️

Know the difference between a puppy with feelings about bedtime and a puppy who is truly distressed. One you wait out — the other you get help for!
