I want HSF Equine Nutrition and Heaven Sent Farm to be a safe space.
I've been thinking really hard about the type of statement I wanted to put on my business pages, with everything happening in the world (the Cornell 57+, violence against women and children, the removal of abortion rights and bodily autonomy rights for women and child carrying people (causing a spike in tragedies like ectopic pregnancy related deaths), our convicted offender president and his Epstein Files, violence against people of color, lynchings of black people in 2026 that aren't named for what they are, ICE killing innocent people and ripping families apart regardless of status and the laws while effectively torturing those they have held captive, violence against the LGBTQIA+ community, the attempted erasure & punishment of transgender people, the lack of accessibility and the stripping of accessibility for people with disabilities, the senseless killing of children and innocent civilians in Gaza as well as many other countries all over the world, violence against animals, food scarcity whether due to social discrimination and defunding of government programs or caused by lack of CDC funding as well as a resurgence of communicable diseases we had effectively eradicated prior to the RFK Jr takeover - the list goes on and on and on).
I could say nothing, go on with business as usual and hope to schedule some clients before my upcoming surgery while remaining "neutral". I could think "I'm just consulting on horse feed, this isn't my place". But I would be wrong.
I have been raised professionally to always be diplomatic online, taught to be careful about the type of information I put out there especially on my business pages because remember, the internet is forever. I was raised by a police officer, one who fought to be good in a system that is entirely corrupt. I want that to be my legacy as well - fighting to be good in a system that simply...isn't.
I do not want my forever mark on the internet to show that I placate the aggressors with silence for the sake of scheduling an $85 consult.
I want HSF Equine Nutrition as well as my farm to be a safe space for every rider, owner, trainer, vet, farrier, bodyworker, dentist, professional and amateur who needs it - every horse lover deserves to feel safe walking into the barn and when hiring outside consultants.
But there's a catch - HSF Equine Nutrition is a safe space UNLESS you support the people, policies and actions that make others unsafe.
I am not here to serve those who support or enact violence against any marginalized people, no matter their gender, race, ethnicity, or other identity.
If you disagree with this statement, I am absolutely not the nutrition advisor for you.
To my facebook audience, if you ever need someone to defend or advocate for you in the equine world, I'll stand with you.
As a bisexual, disabled, Puerto Rican woman who has suffered from physical, emotional and s*xual violence as well as systemic racism, sexism and ableism, HSF Equine Nutrition will always be a safe place for everyone who deserves one.
Oh except racists, rapists, homophobes, transphobes, pedophiles, violent offenders, and MAGA supporters.
