Sometimes you just gotta start over... 🍓

Our strawberry box didn't produce very many berries this year. 😔

We had already discussed pulling the plants because the garden bed had become completely overrun with weeds with not way to get them out without stepping on a strawberry plant.

There could be several issues that need to be addressed regarding the lack of production...

#1 The weeds – They are competing with and suffocating the strawberry roots, making it harder for the plants to thrive.

#2 Accessibility – There was no easy way to reach the berries in the middle to harvest them or get in there to control the weeds.

#3 Too much rabbit p**p! 🐇
Yep, I said it! We've probably added too much nitrogen to the bed. While rabbit manure is an amazing fertilizer, too much nitrogen encourages lots of leafy green growth and not enough fruit production. Next time, we'll focus on adding more phosphorus and potassium with things like banana water, fish emulsion, bone meal, and other fruit-supporting nutrients.

And last but not least...the most likely issue!

These strawberry plants have been in the ground for at least 3 years—maybe longer. Strawberry plants naturally slow down after 3 to 4 years, so sometimes the best thing you can do is start fresh.

So, they're being removed from their box... just for now.

We're going to let those runners keep running and create new plants for FREE. 🌱 That's one of the beautiful things about gardening—there's always another season, another chance, and another harvest waiting.

Sometimes in the garden, just like in life, starting over isn't failure—it's preparing for something even better.

Lighting Bugs do still exist!

They love flashing us on the garden in the evening as we shut it down for the night.

The tree lines are full of them,
but we love to see that our garden is diverse enough for them to come and play.

🌼🐝Honeybees are more than just honey makers… they’re hard-working partners in putting food on our tables.

Every time you see a bee drifting from flower to flower, it’s doing the important work of pollination—helping our fruits, veggies, and plants grow strong and produce the harvest we all enjoy. 🍓🥒🌻

Around here, we don’t take that lightly. We’re thankful for every buzz in the garden, every bloom touched, and every drop of honey they give. 🍯

Because truth be told… about one out of every three bites of food we eat depends on pollinators like these little workers.

So next time you spot a honeybee, just know—you’re looking at a small but mighty part of God’s provision on this farm. 💛

Yes, we were maxed out on space for hives but we made room for two more (so far) this season.
