Before you head out for a walk, take a second to touch the pavement with the back of your hand.
If you can’t comfortably hold it there for 7 full second, it is way too hot for your dog’s paws!🛑

🌡️The Hidden Danger :
When the air temperature is a comfortable 77F, the asphalt can actually skyrocket to over 125F in the direct sun!🤯That is hot enough to cause painful blisters & severe burns on your pup’s sensitive pads in just a few minutes!

✨Summer Walk Tips:✨
•Stick to the green: walk on the grass or shady dirt paths instead
•Chase the sun: move your walks to the early mornings or late evening when the ground has time to cool down
•Gear Up: look into lightweight dog booties if you have to walk on pavement

☀️🚨With temperatures heating up, our furry best friends are at risk much faster than we are. Dogs don’t sweat like us — they rely on panting to cool down, & it didn’t take much for their bodies to overheat.

🛑Signs of Heat Stroke
• Excessive panting
•Bright red gums
• Thick, excessive drool
•Lethargy, weakness, or stumbling
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Elevated temperature

✨How to Prevent It
•Never leave them in a car – even with the windows cracked, a car can hit 100+F in minutes!
•Keep exercise to cooler times of the day
• Hydrate & Shade - always have cool water & a shady spot available
