🐾💙 Please Help Us Welcome Dr. Kathleen Wood to Urgent Vets for Pets! 💙🐾
We are excited to introduce the newest member of our veterinary team, Dr. Kathleen Wood!
A North Carolina native, Dr. Wood grew up in Raeford raising chickens, hogs, and beef cattle on her family's farm. She earned both her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from North Carolina State University, graduating from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018.
After graduation, Dr. Wood spent six years practicing swine medicine in Minnesota and Iowa before returning home to North Carolina and transitioning into companion animal medicine. Following two and a half years in general practice, she found her passion in urgent care medicine and has joined our team at Urgent Vets for Pets.
Dr. Wood's professional interests include surgery, emergency medicine, and wound management. She enjoys caring for a wide variety of animals—from dogs and cats to pet pigs, cattle, and small ruminants.
When she's not at the clinic, you'll likely find her working on her hog farm, tending to her honey bees, collecting miniatures, or spending time outdoors with her husband, Justin, and their three lovable dogs. 🐶🐶🐶
We're thrilled to have Dr. Wood on our team and can't wait for our clients and patients to meet her!
💙 Join us in giving Dr. Wood a warm welcome in the comments below!

Harvey update! 💜

Our little guy is doing wonderful! His shoulder, where he was stitched up, is healing nicely, and the swelling in his face continues to go down at a good rate.

Right now, we are in a waiting period to see how his face continues healing on its own. When we inquired about surgery for his facial fracture, we were told he would need a CT scan and referral to a specialist in order to repair it. However, since Harvey is still so young and currently having no issues chewing or eating, we are hopeful that his little puppy body may continue healing well on its own.

His eye is also becoming much easier to see, and so far it appears normal! We are all very hopeful for a positive outcome there. Of course, if once the swelling fully resolves the eye is not in as good of shape as it currently seems, we may still need to have it removed, but for now, we are staying optimistic.

Outside of all the medical updates, Harvey is exactly what a puppy should be.. he is happy, playful, and full of life. He absolutely LOVES squeaky stuffed toys and spends his days playing and having fun. He has also discovered that chasing cats is apparently a very entertaining hobby, so he may not be the best fit for a home with kitties. However, he is fantastic with other dogs!

We are so grateful to everyone continuing to support, donate, share his story, and cheer him on through recovery. Harvey has already overcome so much, and we cannot wait to continue watching him heal and thrive!

Shout out to our friends at Urgent Vets for Pets and Animal Advocates of Moore County NC! Teamwork makes situations like Harvey’s possible!
