🌟 We are so proud of our very own Dr. Chaves! Recently, she had the incredible opportunity to travel with Samana Inc. — a veterinary volunteer organization making a real difference for animals in need.
Together with a team of four dedicated doctors, they performed over 158 surgeries (with many patients requiring multiple procedures) and vaccinated and dewormed more than 200 cats and dogs — caring for both beloved family pets and stray animals in the community.
Dr. Chaves came home with a full heart, new skills, and even more hands-on surgical experience to bring back to our patients here on the Cape. 🐾
We love being part of a profession that gives like this. 💙

Yesterday we were honored to welcome representatives from the Dennis-Yarmouth School District to Veterinary Associates of Cape Cod, including the Superintendent, School-to-Career Coordinator, and Principal, as part of our longstanding partnership through their internship program.

This partnership has helped launch the careers of many members of our team, from veterinary assistants to veterinarians, who first came to us as student interns.

We are incredibly grateful to have received the Excellence in Community Partnership Award and appreciate the thoughtful breakfast spread provided by the faculty. Thank you to Dennis-Yarmouth Schools for your continued support of the next generation of veterinary professionals!

🐾Employee Spotlight: Meet Will! 🐾

Will recently completed his first year at Atlantic Veterinary College after graduating from the University of New Hampshire in 2024 with a degree in Animal Science. While earning his degree, he balanced academics with Division I football, demonstrating the dedication and work ethic that continue to drive him today.

Although this is Will’s first summer with us, he has become a valued member of the VACC team, working as a veterinary technician and gaining hands-on experience in animal care. His passion for veterinary medicine and commitment to learning have helped prepare him for the next steps in his journey toward becoming a veterinarian.

When he’s not in the clinic, you can find Will fishing, working out, or enjoying the outdoors.

We’re proud to be a part of Will’s veterinary journey and can’t wait to see all he accomplishes! 💙🐾

🐾✨ Employee Spotlight: Maddy ✨🐾

Ever since she was young, Maddy knew veterinary medicine was her calling. More than a decade ago, after helping clean up and care for a pug with an injured paw at a veterinary office, she discovered a passion that has only grown stronger with time.

Now a sophomore at the University of Rhode Island majoring in Animal Science on the pre-veterinary track, Maddy is working toward her goal of attending veterinary school after graduation. She began interning with VACC during her senior year of high school and has loved gaining hands-on experience in the field ever since.

Maddy says that being part of the VACC team has been a dream come true, allowing her to learn, grow, and make a difference while doing what she loves most, caring for animals. We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see the difference you make as a veterinarian 💚🐾

Grace has been part of the VACC family for the past 3 years as an intern, gaining incredible hands-on experience while pursuing her passion for veterinary medicine. Currently in her junior year at the University of Kentucky studying Equine Science with a specialization in cardiology, Grace has always known she wanted to work with animals — especially horses.

She plans to attend veterinary school and says that her time at VACC has helped make all of her dreams feel like reality. We are so proud to be a part of your journey, Grace, and can’t wait to continue watching you grow into the amazing veterinarian we know you’ll be 💙✨
