The case is open, and today Ruff & Tumble is investigating one of the fluffiest suspects around: the Bichon Frise! ☁️🐶

Don’t let that innocent little cotton-ball face fool you. Bichons are smart, playful, curious, and packed with personality. They’re known for loving people and making friends just about everywhere they go.

🚨 PAW & ORDER FUN FACTS:
🐾 Bichons typically weigh only 12–18 pounds.
🐾 They’re known for their soft, curly white coats and shed very little.
🐾 They’re highly trainable and have even worked as circus performers throughout history!
🐾 Bichons became favorites of European nobility centuries ago.
🐾 They’re famous for sudden bursts of crazy energy sometimes called the “Bichon Blitz!”

One question we hear all the time...
“How often does my dog really need to come in for grooming?”

The answer depends on your dog’s coat type, length, lifestyle, and grooming needs. Not just whether they have long or short hair!

✂️ Long or curly coats: Typically every 4–8 weeks to keep the coat manageable and prevent matting.

🐕 Short-haired coats: Usually every 8–12 weeks for bathing, deshedding, nail care, ear cleaning, and overall maintenance.

🐾 Double coats: Often every 8–12 weeks, with additional brushing and deshedding during heavy shedding seasons.

🐶 Mixed or medium-length coats: Around 6–8 weeks is a good starting point, but this can vary depending on the individual dog.

And remember... professional grooming isn't just about a haircut! Regular appointments help keep nails trimmed, ears clean, paw pads maintained, and skin and coats healthy and comfortable. ❤️

Your dog may not need a haircut every visit but they can still benefit from regular professional care!

As groomers, there’s one thing we can tell you about Bernedoodles...that fluffy, teddy-bear look doesn’t happen by accident! 😂✂️

These sweet, goofy dogs are often affectionate, playful, and incredibly smart but that beautiful coat needs some TLC. Their wavy-to-curly hair can tangle and mat quickly, especially behind the ears, under the legs, and around the collar.

Our biggest tip for Bernedoodle parents? Don’t wait until the coat looks tangled to start brushing. Consistent at-home brushing and professional grooming every 6–8 weeks can help keep that coat healthy, comfortable, and manageable. 🛁

And from behind the grooming table… I can confirm... the personality is just as big as the fluff! ❤️
