Plague Alert!
Dear Clients,
Please be aware that South Lake Tahoe has seen cases of the plague this summer. To keep your pets safe, please keep them from chasing, interacting with, and eating any living or deceased wildlife.

Should your pet come into contact with any wildlife, monitor them for any coughing or swelling underneath the chin (Lymph nodes). If you see any of these signs, contact your veterinarian ASAP.

If your pet is not already on Flea and Tick prevention, consider getting additional protection!

Meet jukka!
This lovely lady was found up near Luther pass about 1 months ago. We think she is about 12 years old. We removed a benign mass from her mouth and did a full workup on her.
She is now looking for either her forever home or a foster home.
If you are interested please contact us at Sierra veterinary hospital.

Dear Clients,

We want to thank you for all of your support and trust you give to us here at Sierra Veterinary Hospital! We love taking care of your pets. It is a joy being able to help animals and do what we love.

We wanted to inform you that Dr. Michelle Lam is going to be taking a leave of absence from the veterinary field in order to pursue her dream of hiking the Pacific Coast Trail from Mexico to Canada. She is starting her intense training and then the hike itself may take up to six months.

A lot of you probably have concerns on what that means in regards to our schedule at Sierra Veterinary Hospital. Don’t worry! The rest of us aren’t going anywhere!

We will still be open Monday through Friday seeing appointments, performing surgeries and dentals, and seeing emergencies. We will probably make Wednesdays a day where we focus more on emergencies as well as technician appointments in order to allow Dr. Monroe to get caught up in the middle of the week.

Please note, Dr. Monroe tries his best to personally call back lab work results. However, with the additional work load because of Dr. Lam’s leave of absence, there may be times that he may need to rely on technical staff to call certain lab results for him. If that happens, any concerns you have will be brought to Dr. Monroe’s attention so that he can contact you.

We look forward to continuing our diligent care of your pets!

Sincerely,

Dr. Dave Monroe and the entire staff of Sierra Veterinary Hospital

Meet the Owner!

Dr. David Monroe has worked at Sierra Vet since 2004, and he became the owner in 2007. He attended Yale University for undergraduate school, and then went on to earn his DVM from the Ohio State University. Since then, he has worked in Michigan, Ohio, Maine, and now South Lake Tahoe. When he’s not taking care of the Sierra Vet pets, you can find him playing hockey, paddle boarding, surfing, snowboarding or spending time with his family. At home, he has three dogs: Gator, Moose, and Crosby; and two cats: Tobo and Gretzky.
