American Wirehairs are rare, and few are born every year! I myself have never met one.

Mental 🧠:
These babes are known to be affectionate, patient, and loyal. The 'Wire' is in reference to their coat. These kitties often have wirey coats, and whiskers that look bent. These babies are known to make great house cats, or working cats. They can be social, and are often curious!

Health/Breeding ❤️:
Overall known as a healthy breed, and minimal brushing required with that wire coat, watch out for:
-Dental issue
-Matting (this type of coat tangles)

Care/Maintenance 🛁:
American Wirehairs have such a unique coat that they rarely need brushed. Weekly or bi weekly is more than enough. These kittos can actually be over brushed, and their coat type is resistant to dirt.

Did you know they were discovered in an American barn in 1966?

If you are looking for a unique, friendly companion, and can find a breeder. An American shorthair fits seamlessly into most homes 😍

Akitas are large and in charge babies! They’re powerful working dogs that come from Japan. Akitas are known to be loyal, but also very independent.

Mental 🧠:
Smart, deeply loyal, devoted to their family, you never know what kind of soulful companion you will get! Akitas are protective guardian dogs, known historically to be used for hunting large game and guarding royalty. Akita’s can be super affectionate, but they pick their people! These pups are aloof, wary, and selective with strangers. The only boy I’ve worked with named Rocco took several sessions before I gained his trust. (Not pictured)

Health/Breeding ❤️:
Known as a sturdy, healthy breed overall, watch out for these common issues:
-Hip and elbow dysplasia
-Autoimmune disorders (such as skin or immune conditions)
-Gastric dilatation-volvulus (bloat)
-Hypothyroidism

Care/Maintenance 🛁:
Akitas have a thick double coat that sheds heavily all year long. Two times a year they blow their coat massively. These babes require regular brushing multiple times a week, and regular nail trims.
Did you know Akitas naturally groom themselves just like cats?

If you are looking for a powerful, loyal dog, and don’t mind the layers of hair, and Akita is a pawfect fit! 🧡
