🗣 DON'T LET THE HITCHHIKERS HOME! 🕷️🚫
​Spring has officially sprung, and while we love the blooming flowers and longer walks, someone else is waking up too: TICKS. At Amazing Tails, we’re already seeing these little pests tagging along on our furry clients. Ticks aren't just gross—they can carry Lyme disease and other nasty infections. Here is how to keep your pup safe this season!

​🔍 The 60-Second Tick Check
​Every time you come inside from a walk, run your hands over your dog. Ticks love "hidden" warm spots. Be sure to check:
​The "Pit" Stops: Under the front legs (armpits) and between the back legs.
​The Ears: Inside, outside, and deep in the folds!

​The Toes: Check between every single paw pad.

​Under the Collar: Ticks love to hide right where the collar sits.

​🆘 Found a Tick? Don't Panic!
​Use Tweezers: Grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible.
​Pull Steady: Pull upward with steady, even pressure. Don't "twist" or "jerk," as this can leave the head behind.

​Clean Up: Clean the bite area and your hands with rubbing alcohol or soap and water.
​Skip the "Old Tricks": Never use a lit match or nail polish to try and "suffocate" the tick—this can actually make the tick inject more bacteria into your dog.

🌷 Happy Spring from Amazing Tails! 🐾
​The sun is out, the tails are wagging, and the "zoomies" are in full bloom!
To celebrate the change in season, here are some fun facts about our favorite four-legged friends and the springtime:

​A Nose for Growth: Did you know a dog’s sense of smell is so powerful they can actually smell the rise in moisture and the change in pollen before we even see the flowers? They literally "smell" spring coming!

​The Shedding Shuffle: If you’re seeing more fur on the floor, it’s not just you. Dogs lose their heavy winter "undercoats" in the spring to make room for a lighter, cooler summer coat.

​Seasonal Dreaming: With more activity and longer days, dogs often experience deeper REM sleep in the spring. If you see them twitching or "running" in their sleep, they’re probably chasing a butterfly in their dreams!

​Puppy Love: There’s a reason we see so many puppies this time of year—nature often times births in the spring when food is more abundant and the weather is mild.
