🐾 EVENT UPDATE! 🐾

Due to the forecasted hot temperatures, all animal-related vendors are being moved from the Gridiron to Studebaker Plaza at Michigan Street & Jefferson Boulevard.

For the safety and comfort of our pups, we’ve decided to keep our dogs at the shelter tomorrow. But don’t worry—we’ll still be there! 🐶❤️
Stop by our booth to:
🐾 Learn more about all of our adoptable animals
🐾 Get information about the shelter, volunteering and adoption
🐾 Pick up a dog shirt or jacket for a donation 👕🐕

🐾❤️ MEET GRETCHEN & GUNNER ❤️🐾
Two dogs who lost their person and are now hoping to find their next chapter.

Gretchen and Gunner came to us at the beginning of July after their owner passed away. Losing the person they knew and loved has been a big adjustment, and now they’re looking for families who will give them the time, patience, and love they need to feel at home again. 🥺❤️

🌸 GRETCHEN | 6 YEARS OLD 🌸

Gretchen is a little shy when she first meets people and needs some time to decide that you're one of the good ones. 😉 Once she feels comfortable with you, though, her playful personality starts to shine!

🎾 She enjoys chasing after a ball
🏠 Keeps her kennel clean when let out regularly
🐶 Gets along with other dogs
🐱 Gets along with cats
💕 Needs a quiet home and someone willing to let her open up at her own pace

Gretchen isn't going to be an instant best friend. She needs someone who understands that trust takes time. But once she gives you her heart, you'll get to see the fun, playful girl that's been hiding in there. 🥰

💙 GUNNER | 7 YEARS OLD | 79 LBS 💙

Gunner is a big ol' happy guy who has been showing us that he is ready to get out into the world! He's been on outings in the community and has done wonderfully. 🥰

🦴 Loves chewing bones
🧸 Loves playing with toys... although he has a talent for turning them into confetti 😂
🐶 Gets along with other dogs
🐱 Not good with cats
🏠 Keeps his kennel clean when let out regularly
🌎 Has done great on community outings

Gunner is a happy, easygoing guy who enjoys getting out, exploring, and spending time with people. And if you give him a toy, don't get too attached to it. 😂

💔 A NOTE ABOUT THESE TWO:
Gretchen and Gunner have been separated since arriving at the shelter, and they do not need to be adopted together. In fact, based on their individual needs, we feel they would be happiest in separate homes where they can each get the attention and environment that suits them best.

They've already experienced the heartbreak of losing their person. Now we're hoping we can help them find people who will show them that their story doesn't end there. 🐾❤️

If you're looking for a dog to add to your family, please consider giving one of these two a chance. Gretchen needs someone patient enough to earn her trust, and Gunner needs someone ready for a happy, goofy boy with a serious toy-destruction hobby. 😂
