Pet Refuge Our team is volunteer based and amazing! For the past 30+ years, the dedicated volunteers of Pet Refuge Inc.

Pet Refuge is a limited admission cat and dog shelter that supports the Michiana community and animal control facilities by taking in cats and dogs needing homes and placing them in permanent homes. have devoted their time, and opened their hearts, to the abandoned animals of Northern Indiana. Dogs & Cats of all shapes and sizes walk in the door confused, heartbroken, and often scared. We have made it our mission to put their health and well-being first, in hope that they will all find their special, forever home.

2 of our wonderful volunteers took Ava and Calvin (who are both up for adoption) to a 100-acre woods for some off-leash running. They were joined by their friends, Willow and Sonic. What a fantastic group of dogs! They ran, and played, and swam (Calvin), rolled in “something” (Ava and Willow), and just enjoyed being dogs.

Ava is a long-term resident who loves other dogs but is stranger danger so it takes her time to get over her fear of a new person.

Calvin’s been feeling a little down this past week since his brother, Parker, got adopted last weekend. Both these dogs can be seen at our adoption event this Saturday from 10 to 3!

From his new mom:
Like most 6 month old puppies, he has moments of puppy that need some help but it just reminds me of our toddler lol!! His forced nap times with a sound machine 🤭, new routine, older dog, & our daughter have really made a difference for him! Everyone is into training him. He also is extremely sweet when he’s done playing & loves to cuddle/just be apart of whatever you may be doing. If you’re not in the right spot for cuddles he gently redirects you to the couch or our bed so you can both share the comfy surface.

We are all still learning each other but have been happy to have each other & our home is starting to feel “whole” again 🥲😭🥰 Parker has quickly become my little shadow!
