🐾 Trouble Needs Our Help 🐾

We’re raising funds to help cover veterinary care and physical therapy for our foster dog, Trouble. One moment he was running and playing normally, and the next he was suddenly limping on his rear leg.

We still don’t have a diagnosis. An MRI could give us answers, but costs upwards of $2,000, and we would also like to begin physical therapy to give him the best chance at recovery.

Trouble has had a harder life than he deserves. He’s been through four different families and has come back to live with me twice after being returned. Yet somehow, none of it has changed who he is.

He is kind, playful, obedient, cuddly, and absolutely loves other dogs. Many of our daycare families have watched Trouble play with their pups — he truly believes everyone he meets is his new best friend. 🥹

After everything Trouble has been through, we want to give him every opportunity to heal and get back to doing what he loves most: running, playing, and making friends.

Feels appropriate to share this post! Did you know that most small business owners spend a significant portion of their day on tasks that customers never see?

In addition to providing services, many owner-operators in the pet profession are also the receptionist, scheduler, marketer, accountant, janitor, play group attendant, and manager—all at the same time. One minute a dog is barking because you didn’t throw the ball, another one is pooping, now the doorbell rings, a client sends a text, “hey Fido, please don’t eat that”, don’t forget that email!

That’s why response times from small businesses may not always be immediate. When you’re supporting a small business, you’re often communicating with someone who is actively serving customers, cleaning, ordering supplies, working, or handling dozens of other responsibilities.

As a reminder - we don’t have office hours on weekends as our focus is on the dogs in our care and communicating with their owners (weekends are the busiest)! Monday is our day off because we all deserve a break ❤️

A little patience goes a long way. Giving small businesses time to respond helps them focus on delivering quality service while still managing the many behind-the-scenes tasks that keep their doors open. I’ll never be mad at a double text or a follow up call.

🐾Playing with puppies and kitties all day sure is fun, but we do so much more than that. This is a career. We are small business owners with a passion for pets, and just like any other business, there are many ‘hats’ we wear.

🧢Some of them we don’t always enjoy, so we choose to delegate them, while other roles really connect with our personal mission and values. These are the ones we can dig into and grow as an individual. You do so much behind the scenes and we hope you know it does not go unnoticed.
