Preventative Pet Health of Michiana Preventative Pet Health of Michiana is the area's very first pet preventative healthcare clinic! The expense of a yearly exam is worth it!

Preventative Pet Health of Michiana understands how critical basic veterinary care is for keeping pets with their owners, out of area shelters, and protected from preventable diseases. Our services are by appointment only, are customized for your pet and your specific lifestyle, are very affordable, and without income qualifications or restrictions. Appointments include an assessment by a licensed

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, parasite prevention/control recommendations, and administration of vaccinations. Microchip implantation, heartworm testing, FIV/FeLV testing, and routine bloodwork can also be done at this time. Preventative Pet Health of Michiana will notate and discuss all abnormalities found upon physical exam, will provide documentation of your visit to your full service veterinarian, and/or provide referrals if needed. All patients are required to be up-to-date on the rabies vaccine (if your pet is not up-to-date, you will be required to purchase the rabies vaccine when you visit the clinic with your pet), all dogs are required to be on leashes, and all cats must be in a carrier. Any sick pets will not be vaccinated, and overly aggressive pets or pets that cannot be controlled by their owner will not be vaccinated. Service may be refused to any pet owner who does not comply with our guidelines. Please understand that Preventative Pet Health of Michiana does not take the place of a regular yearly wellness exam. We recommend that you have your pet checked by your regular veterinarian once a year. While many pet owners may think this is an unnecessary expense, it can actually be something that can save your pets life. Your regular vet has the ability to find small issues on your pet during a full physical exam that can be corrected or cured early. Your regular veterinarian is the best source of information and advice on how to deal with issues surrounding the health and well-being of your pet. Please ensure that even though vaccines have been given to your pet at Preventative Pet Health of Michiana, that you make a yearly appointment with your regular vet to have a complete physical exam done.

What an incredibly thoughtful and generous gesture! Veterinary medicine can bring some long, busy and emotional days, and having someone take the time to show their appreciation means more to our team than you probably realize.

We are so grateful for the relationship we have with All 4 Animals and for the trust they place in us to help care for the animals they work so hard to save. Rescue takes an incredible amount of time, dedication, compassion and love, and we are honored to be part of their mission. 🐶🐱❤️

🦟❤️ HEARTWORM IS HERE — AND WE’VE SEEN IT RECENTLY. ❤️🦟

We have recently diagnosed a couple of dogs who are HEARTWORM POSITIVE right here in our area. This is an important reminder that heartworm disease isn’t something that only happens “somewhere else.”

🦟 Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes.
It only takes ONE bite from an infected mosquito to put an unprotected dog at risk.

The scary part? 😟
Dogs can be infected for months before showing any symptoms. By the time coughing, fatigue, weight loss, or difficulty breathing develops, significant damage may already have occurred.

❤️ The good news: Heartworm disease is preventable!

✅ Keep your dog on veterinarian-recommended heartworm prevention YEAR-ROUND
✅ Have your dog tested regularly, even if they’re taking prevention
✅ Don’t assume indoor dogs are safe — mosquitoes get inside too!
✅ If your dog has missed doses or has not been on prevention, please talk with us about testing and safely getting them protected again.

Treating heartworm disease can be lengthy, expensive, and hard on your dog. Prevention is much easier — and much safer.

Today is officially dedicated to the four-legged family members who fill our homes with love, laughter, fur… and absolutely no personal space. 😂🐕

Whether they’re a tiny lap dog who thinks they run the house, a gentle giant who still believes they’re a lap dog, or a professional counter-surfer who swears they have never been fed in their entire life — today we celebrate THEM! ❤️
