Coco's Heart Dog Rescue Coco's Heart takes in neglected animals, provides them with medical care and a loving environment.

Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue is an effort grounded in love, dedication and determination. The dream of establishing this rescue started back in 2000 when a very special dog, Coco, passed away unexpectedly at age 5. The loss inspired Coco’s owner, 12 year-old Ashley, to save other canine friends in his name. Ashley and Coco had been the best of friends and it is in his name that this endeavor lives on…. CHDR depends on private donations to function and rescue friends in need.

Sweet Esme ❤️

Esme is just the sweetest little girl and an absolute bundle of love! ❤️ She has already stolen our hearts, and our family has even given her a few nicknames: Esse and Sweet Baby Girl!

One of our favorite things about Esme is how much she loves to cuddle. She will gently reach out and touch you with her paw, almost as if she’s giving you a little hug. 🥹 She just wants to be close to you, feel loved, and give love right back. She loves sitting in her dog bed and watching me work in my office, just so she can be near me. Sometimes, she follows me around like my own little shadow. It’s the sweetest thing!

Esme is absolutely beautiful, and whenever we take her for walks, people stop to pet her and tell us how gorgeous she is. She does wonderfully on her leash and listens so well. She can get a little distracted by noises, but we think she’s just curious about the world around her. She can be a little timid when meeting other dogs or hearing dogs bark in the neighborhood. However, when she meets other dogs on our walks, she wags her tail and seems eager to make friends!

She also loves chewing on her bones and is making progress with her potty training every day. We have three cats at home, and so far, Esme hasn’t shown much interest in them. Our cats are still getting comfortable and tend to hide, but when they do come out, Esme will look at them and then move along.

More than anything, Esme seems to want what every dog deserves: love, comfort, companionship, and a family to call her own. She has such a gentle, affectionate personality, and we are enjoying getting to know all the little things that make her so special.

Esme isn't just a beautiful little girl on the outside; she has such a beautiful heart, too. We feel so lucky to be getting to know her and to see her personality shine as she becomes more comfortable. She is already bringing so much love into our home, and we can't help but smile when she reaches out her little paw as if to say, “I just want to be close to you.” ❤️

Hi! I'm Rocky! I recently came to Coco's Heart after some kind people found out I was living outside!

Since coming to my foster family's house, I have been working hard at potty training and crate training! I'm doing pretty good at both! As long as I am taken out on a regular schedule, I don't have any accidents, which my foster mom thinks is pretty impressive for being as young as I am! I don't love my crate yet, but it's just because I want to be part of all the fun! Once the house is quiet for the night, I stay nice and quiet until morning. I am curious about everyone and everything! I run up to anyone I meet to ask for maximum snuggles. I also seem to LOVE other dogs, and will play with them as long as they'll let me. I am a teething, so I sometimes need a reminder that I should be chewing on a bone rather than a finger! Overall, I am as sweet, soft, snuggly, and fun as a puppy could be.

I am going to make the BEST companion or family dog for someone.

Juno is a young heeler mix ready to find her forever home! The first thing you will notice about Juno is her stunning looks. She has a beautiful blue merle coat with tan markings around her nose and eyes that perfectly highlight her face. And look at those ears! 😍

She is your typical heeler mix puppy. High energy, extremely smart, loving, affectionate, and loyal to her people. At 10 months old, she is potty trained, crate trained, and has pretty good recall. Leash skills are in progress, as she has a tendency to pull. She enjoys playing with other dogs and running around the yard with a frisbee in her mouth. She also loves to spend her time lounging in the yard where she can make sure no squirrels enter her perimeter.

She gets along with the cats in her foster home, though sometimes she shows more interest in them than they would like, so it would be important for any cats in the home to have a separate space to retreat for peace and quiet when needed.

Juno loves all the people she meets including kids. As a young pup, we are still working on some manners and learning about personal space. Juno loves to be right next to her people whether that's on the couch, in the kitchen, or right in front of you on the stairs. 😅

Juno is looking for an active family who will be committed to giving her the mental and physical stimulation needed for her to be her best self. She will be the most loving and loyal companion in return.

We are about 35 items short of last year (Getting closer- THANK YOU!) with only 48 hours left to collect! We really need your help!!

It makes an incredible difference for the animals we serve. Coco’s Heart welcomes and finds loving homes for hundreds of animals each month… thousands annually. In about a month, we head north for our Rescue Effort to help as many animals as we can before the brutal winter approaches.

Foster Needed!

Fig is an adorable fluffy 2-year-old male chihuahua. Teeny tiny at just 8 lbs, beautiful coloring, and just waiting to burst out of his shell! He's definitely nervous right now, but we think he’ll open up quickly in a home and it will be very rewarding to watch! We get it, Fig, the world can be pretty scary. But we promise it's only up from here 🫶

*** DONOR MATCHING UP TO $1500 ***

In honor of Bus, 🪽 an amazing foster family reached out to match all donations up to $1500 to help fundraise for the 90+ dogs who arrived with Bus on Sunday evening. To help give them the care they need to get healthy and be loved.. something we all wish so badly we could have provided Bus.

It’s a gut punch, when help comes too late. Our hearts are broken but we have pushed through this week and we have cried, many tears. Our veterinary team has carefully examined the new arrivals and it’s… well.. heartbreaking.

Ears canals should not be closed by polyps (needing surgery to remove BOTH ear canals), white fur should not be stained orange from sitting in their own filth, their little folds should not be inflamed and mass filled, the eyes…. so many eye injuries, the teeth… countless dogs will need ALL teeth removed. Grooming… most of the longer coat dogs are so matted they need to be shaved down. Old injuries… The infections, the masses… the broken spirits.. 💔

Dogs who have never seen grass, don’t know what a couch is, many have never ate out of a bowl. It’s so hard to fathom what their reality must of been. But, the beauty is, with loving foster homes, veterinary care and some patience, they will start to learn they are safe. They will start to blossom… love… and feel better.
