🐾 CHESSIE COLORS: Let's Talk Tan Points! 🐾
Did you know Chesapeake Bay Retrievers come in more than just solid colors?
Meet Blossom! ❤️ Those beautiful lighter markings on her face, legs, and chest are commonly called tan points or hound markings.
And no, they don't mean she's mixed with another breed! 😉
🧬 It's All in the Genetics!
Chessies have quite a bit of color variety hiding in their pedigrees! While brown, sedge, and deadgrass are the three recognized color families, additional genetic patterns can create tan points, saddle markings, and other interesting variations.
Some of these traits are recessively inherited, meaning they can quietly pass through generations before showing up in a puppy. That's why looking at an entire pedigree matters, not just the parents!
❤️ Meet Blossom!
🌸 Blossom — Our beautiful, boldly marked girl! She's enthusiastic, driven, and full of potential. She'd love an active home where she can put that wonderful Chessie brain to work.
Blossom is looking for a family of her own!
Remember, a Chesapeake is so much more than a coat color. It's generations of breeding, personality, and working heritage wrapped up in one amazing dog.
