So, the Primos are finally back in their larger enclosure. I had them in 2 smaller drier enclosures since maybe October while we modified their large one that was getting wet and muddy. 12 happy cousins reunited at last! These are Whiting true Blues that lay blue eggs. They are starting to lay again after a long winter so it was time. Much less work to look after them in one large enclosure rather than two 6x10 ones. They immediately flew up onto their play structure/perch and started preening themselves, a few others immediately claimed the nesting boxes.

OMG it came out perfect! I have been buying Smuckers pineapple topping (aka preserves) for years but it has been progressively harder to find, and this week I was gifted about 3 quarts of fresh pineapple chunks. Been wanting to do this a long time, I make all kinds of jellies and preserves every year. So last night I bit the bullet and made 8 half-pint jars of pineapple preserves and three mixed berry ones from the same source. 6 fit into the canner w the 3 berry ones and 2 went straight to the fridge cos I'll eat them never fear. ONE didn't seal so that one went to the fridge as well and I just tried it -- soooo GOOD! I use it on ice cream or in my yogurt (I prefer my own fruit to the ones that come mixed in) and Smuckers just lost a longtime customer (through no fault of theirs). If I make another batch I'll put it out for sale. 3 for $10 to the RIGHT of the egg fridge or on the white fridge to the right (just covers cost of the lids and sugar and pectin). The jams on the left are free ones or you can find those in the little free Pantry at the end of the drive while they last. I think there is only plum ones left there atm.

Newly added today: Sharing Pantry, will have shelf stable foods and some hygiene items. Community is invited to share what they can (no breads or perishables or produce). Located at end of dead end street across from Bridges Pets.
Long range plan if there is enough interest would be to expand the size of the little cart, and add a QR code for donation wishlist of needed or requested items from Amazon, especially single use or individual size hygiene supplies.

My Lucy with her first and only litter of babies (she was a baby herself!) shortly after a volunteer at Community Cat Coalition rescued her in 2015. The next photo is her shortly after her spay, w her shaved tummy while she was still in CCC foster. Then Jan 22, 2016 after she got out maybe a month after we got her, and we were trying to catch her we got this glimpse of her on one of our game cams next to the trap we tried to use to recover her. Last is her on my bed snuggling with Monkee, her new bestie (besides me of course) -- 3 years later after the neighbor who was keeping her finally got bored and turned her in to the Everett kill shelter in Novenber 2018.

Our Lucy got out in January 2016. We put up fliers and posters everywhere including several on our short block and set out traps. We felt she was nearby even caught a glimpse of her a couple weeks later on game cam, then once or twice at the end of our driveway then nothing. THEN 2 days before Thanksgiving in 2018 after 3 years missing we got a call from the Everett animal shelter saying they had Lucy. We had assumed she was dead. Anyone finding her would surely have checked her microchip, as this shelter did. Someone ON OUR OWN STREET had kept her all this time, never vetted her, and when they got tired of her they turned her in the next town over. The address they gave when they surrendered her was on our own street. The WORST part was the shelter advised she would likely be euthanized as she was totally wild and feral and unsocialized! I paid the fees and brought her home anyway, put her briefly in the acclimation cage we used for fosters while we evaluated and socialized them. This is me putting my hand in the cage fully expecting to be attacked, as I had no idea what these monsters had done to her for 3 years. What I got was kitty version of "mommymommy I missed you where were you?!! Lovemelovemeloveme!! " Lucy has slept on my bed in my armpit evey night since then. She is my baby!!

The ducks like these dog houses as well to lay their eggs in, but as seen on the other video they like the rabbit hutch best. Always clean, no hunting for nests. They come in every evening to their safe enclosure and lay eggs all night.

I didn't collect eggs yesterday due to a migraine, and this morning they surprised me. I need another rabbit hutch like this one. They seem to love it. These are DUCK eggs: my gals march right into their safe enclosure every sunset and lay their eggs in these clean dog houses and this raised rabbit hutch.

It doesn't look like much atm, but the little greenhouse is back together (we had to partially dismantle it when we replaced our mini-split heat/cool system a few months back) and I'll be starting seeds this weekend. I'll be gifting the extras that I don't have room for once they are big enough to transplant.

The new book box is up and filled, end of the driveway. I love to see what books others bring to share w the community.
