This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

Here are some tips and tricks to help keep your furry friends safe this July 4th.

June is National Pet Preparedness Month. Natural disasters are often accompanied by evacuations. Even if you are able to remain in your home, you may be cut off from public services for several days. Having a “Go Bag,” containing supplies for a several-day period, can help you be prepared to go without emergency services during a disaster.

June 28th National Insurance Awareness Day! Ensure your pet always has access to the best medical care, while protecting your finances with pet insurance. With so many insurance options, it's hard to pick the right plan for your pet. While it is best to call directly to the specific company, your veterinarian can help you decide if insurance is the right choice for your pet and what benefits to look for.

Also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19 every year. The holiday commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It holds immense historical significance as it marks the day when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached the last enslaved individuals in Texas—two and a half years after it was signed.

Juneteenth celebrates the resilience, freedom, and achievements of African Americans while serving as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality and justice
