Very interesting topic. As a keeper of 4 varieties of tiger plecos that chew on wood, its always interesting to learn more about why they much on the wood (in the comments of OG post)

People call Panaqolus “wood-eating plecos.”
And yes, they absolutely chew through wood.

But here’s the interesting part:

they don’t seem to get as much nutrition from the wood itself as the name suggests.

So maybe the real value of driftwood isn’t just the wood.

It’s the whole living surface that develops on it the stuff these fish spend hours rasping and grazing.

Which is why we don’t really see driftwood as “food.”

We see it as part of the feeding environment.

After a dry spell for the L002, we have another clutch! They've been hard to get for us as they eat their eggs so fast! Finally got one pulled, first since around Dec/Jan.

Scaping a nano tank with levels using our substrate dividers! Capped with our newest plant basket on top that holds LECA balls for increased biomedia surface area and water filtration! The tank isn't painted yet so cleaned up the background with Bixby to the black it will be painted
