🐾 Feline Friday: Meet Lester 🐾
Some cats arrive with stories written on their bodies, and Lester is one of them. He came to us with scars and a missing piece of his upper lip—signs of a life spent surviving outdoors. But the moment he stepped into the shelter, he greeted us with steady purrs and gentle affection.
Lester is FIV and FeLV positive, which means he’ll need a home without other cats (unless they’re also FeLV‑positive). His life expectancy will be shorter, but his capacity for love is limitless. Whoever adopts him will be giving him something he’s never truly had before: safety, comfort, and a soft place to land.
If you’d like to meet Lester, stop by during our viewing hours—he’s ready to charm you!
🐱What is FIV?
FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) weakens a cat’s immune system, making it harder for them to fight off infections. It’s similar to HIV in humans, but it only affects cats—it cannot spread to people or other species.
🐱What is FeLV?
FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) is a contagious virus that can weaken the immune system, cause cancer, and shorten a cat’s lifespan. It spreads mainly through close contact—especially saliva—and only affects cats, not humans or other animals.
