Progress happens in the slow work. 🔥🐴

Luna is putting in the work with slow, controlled drills focused on correcting and improving her first barrel for her rider, Stephanie. Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs come from slowing things down, building understanding, and creating consistency one step at a time.

At PPP Training, we believe strong fundamentals create confident horses and faster runs down the road.

The goal isn’t just speed—it’s correctness, confidence, and communication between horse and rider. 👏

A year ago, Leighton ran a 16.9 in this same arena.

This year? A 15.5. 🔥🐴

Progress like this doesn’t happen overnight. It comes from consistency, patience, hard work, and focusing on the small details—like learning to ride with quieter hands and better communication with her horse.

The clock matters, but the growth behind the run matters even more. Watching confidence, horsemanship, and understanding come together is what PPP Training is all about.

We’re proud of you, Leighton! Keep trusting the process. Big things are ahead. 👏

Wondering the foundation of PPP Training?

Meet Jon & Tara Stafford

Jon and Tara Stafford are the owners and trainers behind PPP Training, bringing a lifetime of horse experience and a passion for developing confident, competitive horses and riders. Their program is built on three core values: Practice, Patience, and Perseverance — believing that consistent, correct work creates lasting success both in and out of the arena.

Jon Stafford, 43, has been riding horses his entire life and began breaking and training horses at just 13 years old under the guidance of his father.

Tara Stafford, 44, has also spent her life around horses and began helping Jon train and tune-up horses after they married in 2005. Since then, they have worked side-by-side building horses and helping riders reach their goals.

Throughout the years, Jon and Tara have earned multiple qualifications to the NBHA Youth and Open World Championships, including Top 20 finalist honors, multiple NBHA State Championship qualifications and Top 5 finishes, along with many other accomplishments. Their training philosophy focuses on confidence, correctness, solid fundamentals, and creating horses that are responsive, willing, and competitive.

At PPP Training, their goal is simple: to help horses and riders improve through practice, patience, perseverance, and consistent training while creating an environment where both horse and rider can reach their full potential and gain the confidence they need.

Barrel Racing Tip Tuesday

⭐️ Straighter, Longer ⭐️

A common and easy mistake is horses starting turns too soon. This shortens the approach and causes us to lose shape in the turn. The result? Wide exits, dropped shoulders, and slower times.

👉 The fix: Ride your horse straighter and longer into the turn.
• Give them time to finish their stride before asking for the turn.
• Keep your eyes looking past the barrel—this naturally helps you drive into the pocket.
• Use your legs to support the ribcage and keep your horse from starting the turn too soon.

✅ A straighter, longer approach sets your horse up to wrap the barrel tighter, maintain rhythm, and fire out of the turn with more speed.

Remember: Patience on the approach = speed on the exit.

☀️ Monday Morning Motivation ☀️

Start the week with energy, curiosity, and a little extra attitude, just like this young c**t, Bugatti. 🐴🔥

Every great horse starts somewhere. Keep showing up, stay patient through the process, and trust that growth is happening one ride at a time.

New week. New goals. Let’s get after it

One of the best parts of this sport is learning together. 🐴🔥

Every rider brings different strengths, different experiences, and different lessons to the arena. When we support one another, encourage growth, and celebrate progress together, everybody gets better.

PPP Training is about more than fast times—it’s about building confident horses, knowledgeable riders, and a team atmosphere where people push each other to improve.

Iron sharpens iron. Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep building each other up.
