SPECIAL ADOPTION POST: NACHO & HEDWIG! ❤️

Meet Nacho (5yr) and Hedwig (4yr)! These two special cats are looking for someone willing to see past a diagnosis and give them the loving homes they deserve. 🐾

Both cats have tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), a virus that affects a cat’s immune system and can make them more susceptible to illness. FeLV does NOT spread to people or dogs, and FeLV-positive cats can still enjoy a wonderful quality of life! They need an indoor home with regular veterinary care and should live as the only cat or with other FeLV-positive cats.

HEDWIG is super outgoing, sweet, and quite the character! He does have diabetes and requires insulin, so he'll need an adopter ready to help manage his medical needs. He's full of personality and has so much love to give!

NACHO is our little spicy girl! We haven't earned her full affection just yet, but she happily accepts food from us and occasionally rubs against our legs. We think she may warm up in a home with time and patience…... or she might not! Either way, she deserves a chance to feel safe and loved. ❤️

Our dream is to find them a home TOGETHER! Since they share the same diagnosis, we'd love for them to have a chance at life with a companion who understands them. However, they can also be adopted separately into the right homes.

Could you be the special person they need? 🥹

Give us a call to learn more about adopting Nacho, Hedwig, or BOTH! (207) 474- 6493.

Meet R***r! 🐾

R***r is a 3-year-old Lab/Pit mix with a big personality and an even bigger smile!
R***r is a pretty independent guy, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love attention! He enjoys getting affection, playing, and spending time with his people. He is also full of energy and would love someone who can help him put all that enthusiasm to good use!

While R***r is a super sweet boy, he would do best in a home without small children. A calmer, more predictable environment would help him feel comfortable and set him up for success. He’s looking for a family that understands his needs and can give him the loving home he deserves. 💙

R***r is neutered, vaccinated, up to date on his preventatives, microchipped, and READY TO GO HOME! 🎉

Once we receive your application we will give you a call to schedule an appointment for you to meet him!

Meet Teddy 🥰

Teddy is a 6 year-old large mixed breed. He is a big sweetheart who absolutely loves attention, belly rubs, and being around his people. He is a very talkative boy, which has earned him some interesting nicknames. We have a feeling there may be a little hound mixed in there somewhere because this boy definitely isn’t shy about letting you know what’s on his mind!
Teddy has PLENTY of energy! He enjoys a good nap every now and then, but once he gets outside, he is full of life and ready to go.
One thing Teddy has made very clear to us is that he strongly dislikes kennels and car rides.. it was a very eventful trip to the vet, but we made it! Both can be extremely stressful for him, so his ideal home will be one that understands this and is willing to give him some patience.

Teddy is neutered, microchipped, up to date on his preventatives, and ready to find his forever home!
If you’re looking for a big-hearted, goofy, talkative companion who will happily accept all the belly rubs you’re willing to give, come meet Teddy. We have a feeling he’ll leave a pretty big impression on you!

Click here to submit a pre-adoption application form, and give us a call if you have any questions about him! 💙

💔 Help Us Find His Family

Today, a cat was brought to the Somerset Humane Society in very poor condition after being found on Alder Street in Skowhegan, unable to walk.

He was a medium to long haired grey and white neutered male. Unfortunately, upon veterinary evaluation, it was determined that he was in critical condition and was not going to recover. With no reasonable treatment options available, the difficult decision was made to humanely euthanize him.

Sadly, he was not microchipped, so we have no way of knowing if he had a family looking for him.

We would like to make every effort to notify his owner, if he had one. If you are missing a cat from the Alder Street area and believe this may be your cat, please contact the Somerset Humane Society and provide a photo or other identifying information so we can help confirm his identity.

We are so sorry that this boy’s story ended this way. We hope we can at least give his family the answers they deserve. 💔
