Welcome She-Ra to lessons! She is five months old and already very protective of her mom. We’re getting her basic obedience going quickly to get her out and socializing before she gets too big for her mom to handle. First lesson went great and her mom was so surprised to see this puppy following commands in just a few minutes!

First trip in public was literally three minutes. She was very anxious but still willing to make friends. Praised for that and for being curious. Always good when an anxious dog puts their nose to work! 👍😃

From refusing to walk by laying down, to trotting along with a polite sit! From fearful breeder rescue to adventurous explorer. I’m so happy to watch her expand her horizons!!

This is Charley’s first time loose downstairs with my folks and Jesse. She knows Daisy but it’s a new situation so everything must be checked first. Then she got to curl up in my mom’s lap and just get loved on. It was so cute to watch!

Isn’t it neat to see how her confidence has grown so much in the last few days?!? She’s so happy! There’s nothing better than watching an insecure dog bloom into who she’s meant to be. I am looking forward to seeing more of it as I add challenges to her day. She gets to listen to CDs of noises to get used to in normal life, too, to help her adjust to living in the real world. That exposure starts soon!

After her rescue, this sweet girl has never learned to play with a toy, or really play at all. Time to start showing her how to interact. She watched me play fetch with Stella, and watched Daisy and Anya wrestle around. At first all she wanted to do was avoid. At this point I’m praising curiosity and letting her settle in a bit.

Welcome Charley to training! Charley has a sad background but she’s becoming who she was always meant to be. Charley is 2 years old, and lived her entire life in a crate. She was used for breeding and didn’t know life could be different. Even after she was eventually rescued, the “breeder” was looking to get her back. As you can guess, life outside her crate is pretty scary. She loves people! She is so sweet and so forgiving. Now she’s in a home with a family. And her family is doing their best to get her to realize that things are ok. Charley is, understandably, having some adjustment issues. Things like hiding in corners, behind furniture, flattening to the floor if anything is deemed scary.

So Charley has come to summer camp to learn about the scary things and have lots of fun learning to be curious and giving those scary things a chance to prove they’re ok. One of the first things she did was to throw up in the driveway. Hey, that’s no big deal around here! Instead she gets praise for sniffing around and being willing to explore. I hope you have as much fun seeing her learn as I am! This is the stuff that makes a huge difference for these dogs!!

I hope y’all are able to enjoy the wonderful cooler weather! Daisy just tried to lay down in the pool and discovered it’s really wet. I wish I had my video going!!!! 🤣🤣
